State Scoring List….Version 2.0

One of our favorite features is back. Coaches have told me this is what they wait for each week. I have scoured the news sources from around the state and come up with the top scoring efforts. This ha become increasingly harder as the local newspapers are no longer putting box scores in the paper. I could use your help if you find or know of anyone scoring over 25 points in a game, please let me know. I can be reached at andre@tnprephoops.com or @tnprephoops on twitter.

Marvin Hughes (McGavock) is a rising sophomore from the Nashville area who has created a great deal of buzz with his scintillating start to the season. These past few weeks he has dropped a 34 on Hillwood added a 32 spot on Knowledge Academy, he gave defending Class AA state champion Maplewood 24 and a slick 20 against a solid Stratford group.

Grant Ledford (Grace Christian) forever etched his name in Grace Christian folklore recording his 1,000th point recently during his junior campaign no less. The school record for scoring is surely within his grasp. Stay tuned.

Tyler Harris (Cordova) has been making noise since the season began. These past few weeks saw the rising senior drop a 43 spot against Wooddale. With his scoring exploits the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for Tennessee surpassed the coveted 2,000 point barrier for his career.

If you have paid attention to the scoring thus far this season you will notice the numerous times the name Reece Glover (Franklin). The rising junior sharp-shooter was at his best these past couple weeks dropping 31 against Hillsboro, then 34 against Brentwood before closing with 37 against Ravenwood. The scoring explosions also lifted him into hallowed company as he surpassed the 1,000 point barrier for his career.

Brock Jancek (Knoxville Catholic) is not drawing nearly the attention he should be from college coaches. The 6'7 post has expanded his game and his scoring has exploded. He dropped 30 against Heritage, another 30 spot against Knoxville West, how about 29 in a win over a state tourney bound Grace Christian squad and finally 29 more against CAK.

Long a hotbed for D1 players, Dyer County has their next special player in rising senior Rico Quinton (Dyer County). The East Carolina commitment dropped a slick 34 spot on USJ and in the process joined the exclusive 1,000 point club for the Choctaws.

Gray Michael (Franklin Classical) officially signed his name among the best shooters in the history of Mid-State basketball with his 39 point outburst against Sante Fe. In the process the rising senior surpassed the 2,000 point barrier for his career. An amazing accomplishment. Congrats my friend.

Silas Clark (Cumberland County) is polishing the final touches of his outstanding high school career. The rising senior guard had one of the best games of his career with a 31 point effort against cross-town rival Stone Memorial.

Kid is a winner, don't sleep on him.

They made noise last season with their scoring exploits, and it appears they haven't slowed down one bit.  Jamey Sanders (WEB Dubois) is off to a spectacular scoring start this season. How about a 48 point outburst against Fairley, 37 against Little Rock Hall, 30 against Power Center Academy, 28 against Kirby and finally a 27 spot against Westwood.
