The city championships.

Those in Memphis regard this as a very big deal.

Sure they want to win district, region and make it to Murfreesboro, but the city championship is something special.

Local bragging rights and the winners usually find themselves gaining the confidence it takes to make a run for that gold ball.

In Class AA the champs of district 15AA, BTW ,will tangle with district 16AA top dog Hillcrest for the crown of city champ.

Hillcrest is guard happy with two hoopers named Davis, senior LeMelvis Davis and sophomore Kerell Davis, making the magic happen.

BTW has guards of their own and one of them, Larry McGaughey, is the hottest rising sleeper in the city.

Over in Class AAA, Raleigh-Egypt will tangle with Melrose for the title of city champs.

The Pharoahs are deep, talented, tough and did I mention deep. Great size and inside action from the likes of Ronald Brown, Joe Brady and Anthony Jones, make them a formidible group.

Youth highlights the Melrose roster ,but quality youth it certainly is. Sophomores Adonis Thomas and "Mighty" Chris Jones, lead a squad also rich in depth and talent.

This will be an epic batle between two of the best in the city. So make the trip to White Station High School on the 19th for these two showdowns, you will not be disappointed.
