Mustangs Gallop Past Red Bank… Move to 21-1

January's blistering cold proved no match as I traveled I75 to get my first glimpse of the Mustangs from Walker Valley.

Jake Trotter (Walker Valley) dropped 25 and lifted his squad past a pesky and athletic Red Bank bunch to the tune of 84-77 and pushed their season record to a gaudy 21-1.

Trotter, who has signed to play next year at Tennessee Wesleyan, showed he could score in a multitude of ways, dropping threes, short jumpers and some drives off the bounce.

The Mustangs got balanced scoring with Brice Sharp (Walker Valley) adding 19 and junior Cody Burrell (Walker Valley) chipping in with 16.

Carson Newman signee David Ware (Walker Valley) proved he was more than just a scorer limiting himself to only 11 shots and finished with 13 points. His improvement has come in the other facets of the game, as the senior dished out 9 assists and played a much more well rounded game.

Nick Ross (Red Bank) led all scorers with 29 in the contest. The sophomore showed some long range prowess; as well as, taking a few off the dribble.

The tour continues with the ultimate clash between the states top AAA squad Knoxville Bearden and the countrys #2 ranked Oak Hill Academy this Friday in Knoxville. Then on to Nashville for a battle between Marshall County and Lipscomb.
