The List Gets Bigger With Week #2 State Scoring Leaders

danielnorl.jpg

Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, face books and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.

If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week's story.

College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.

Robert Hubbs (Dyer County) achieved a nice milestone this past week as the Tennessee signee scored 28 points and with his effort became the all-time leading scorer at Dyer County High School.

Demetrius Dyson (Covington) is not afraid to make the people at the scorer's table earn their paycheck. The rising senior dropped 35 markers against Dyersburg and passed the 1,500 point mark for his career.

Austin Gee (Ezell-Harding) had himself a very fine week. The rising senior guard began the week with a 25 point effort against USN, followed that with 26 against Nashville Central Christian before ending the week on an even stronger note with 29 large against Hume Fogg.

Burton Sampson (Knoxville Webb) achieved a special milestone this past. "Big Money", who will be an invited walk-on at Belmont next year, surpassed the 1,000 point barrier in his high school career.

Middle Tennessee let us keep an eye on a set on a pair of Hunters who are simply lighting up the scoreboards early in the prep season. Hunter Clanton (Santa Fe) made the most of his week scoring 28 against Columbia Academy and adding 26 against Culleoka, while Hunter Bennefield (Page) continues his torrid scoring pace with 27 against Hickman County and 25 against Independence.

Cody Jordan (Richland) and Austin Mullinax (Waverly Central) will both now go down in their respective schools folklore as both senior surpassed the 1,000 point barrier for their high school careers. Congrats fellas.

Austin Howard (Giles County) continues to shine brightly on the Middle Tennessee hoops scene. The rising senior had another solid week scoring27 points against East Hickman and adding 23 against Lincoln County.
