McDonald and Williams Sweep Mr. Basketball

Two of the finest players, not only in our state, but in the country had the opportunity to represent Tennessee in a most heroic way. Elliot Williams (St. George's) and Leslie McDonald (Braircrest Christian) were named Mr. Basketball in their respective classifications.

Williams, who is headed to Duke, recieved the DII Class A award during a ceremony following the title game on Friday night. Williams, who was also selcted to participate in the McDonald's All-American game, won the award over teammate and Missouri commitment Laurence Bowers (St. George's) and state champion Harding Academy junior Marlon Brown.

Immediately following Braircrest victory in the DII Class AA game, McDonald, a junior who is being recruited by all the heavyweights,  recieved his trophy. His fellow nominees included senior Gary Pope (Ensworth) and senior Martin Mitchell (CBHS).

Congrats to both young men.
