Greene Goes Off at Rocky Top Fall League Week #3 (Knoxville)

 

Week #3 of the Rocky Top Fall League saw some serious scoring efforts at the spacious confines of Alcoa High School.  

 

Team Moore 64

Team Smith 63

Devin Sibley (Karns) picked up the scoring slack as several of his teammates were taking the ACT test. The rising junior finished with 29 points as Team Moore survived an overtime session to remain unbeaten at 3-0 with a narrow 64-63 victory over Team Smith.

Joining Sibley on the score charts was Gunnar St. Johns (Campbell County) with 12.

Team Smith was led by their triumvirate of scorers as DeJon McGill (Austin East) led with 21 including a game tying 3 that send the contest into the overtime stanza. Andre Wilson (Austin East) added 18 and Imani Miller (Austin East) finished with 17.

Team Smith (1-2) will do battle with Team Wannamaker (1-2) on Saturday at Knoxville Catholic while Team Moore (3-0) but their unblemished mark on the line against Team Driscoll (2-1).  

 

 

Team Watts 69

Team Driscoll 62

Sam Greene (Bearden) finished with a league high 33 points as Team Watts snatched their first victory of the season with a solid 69-62 win over previously unbeaten Team Driscoll. Cameron Turner (Farragut) scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half helping Team Watts erase a double digit deficit for the victory.

Micah Goss (Fulton) led Team Driscoll with 21 markers while Camion Patrick (Knoxville West) chipped in with 11 in the loss.

Team Driscoll (2-1) tangles with Team Moore (3-0) on Saturday at Knoxville Catholic while Team Watts (1-2) battles with Team Lee (1-2).

 

 

Team Dorsey 79

Team Wannamaker 76

Devin Schmidt (Sevier County) did his best work this Saturday as the rising senior dropped 22 points and several impressive assists leading Team Dorsey to a hard fought 79-76 victory over a determined Team Wannamaker squad.

Schmidt was strong in the second half scoring 16 of his 22 during a huge comeback from the opponents. Jacob Elliott (South Doyle) was the beneficiary of several of Schmidt's dimes as he finished with 18 points on the day. Gunnar Gibson (Seymour) added 12 in the win. Team Dorsey moves to 2-1 on the season.

Blake Golden (Fulton) had the hot hand scoring 23 for Team Wannamaker. Deonta Bizzle-Brown (Hardin Valley) made his presence felt in a big way in the second half as the 6'8 rising junior scored all 16 of his points in the final stanza and showed his prowess on the defensive end blocking and altering several shots. Austin Glasgow (Hardin Valley) added 11 in the tough loss.

Team Dorsey (2-1) will do battle with Team Jackson (0-3) on Saturday at Knoxville Catholic. Team Wannamaker (1-2) will meet a determined Team Smith (1-2).

 

Team Matthews 74

Team Lee 69

Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) scored 25 points as Team Matthews snuck past a hard working Team Lee 74-69 at Alcoa on this past Saturday. Rowan had plenty of help in the scoring column as Alex Fountain (Wartburg Central) pitched in with 18 and Luke Matthews (Stone Memorial) finished with a season high 16.

Four players scored double digits for Team Lee led by Isaiah Campbell (Bearden) with 17. Brady Smith (Bearden), Oterriah Lee (CAK) and Jack Graham (Bearden) all finished with 14 points in the narrow loss.

Team Matthews moves their record to 2-1 as they prepare for a date with Team Riddick (2-1) on Saturday at Knoxville Catholic. Team Lee (1-2) will wage war with upstart Team Watts (1-2).

 

 

Team Riddick 62

Team Jackson 53

Clark McCall (Maryville) nailed four threes and finished with 22 points as Team Riddick pushed their season mark to 2-1 with a handy 62-53 win over Team Jackson this past Saturday at Alcoa.

McCall had his best outing of the Fall League thus far and was assisted in the scoring column by Isaac Edmiston (Maryville) with 11 and Brian Landers (Maryville) with 10.

Isaac Marian (Oak Ridge) did yeoman's work on the interior scoring 14 points to lead Team Jackson, who fell to 0-3 on the season.

Team Riddick (2-1) takes on Team Matthews (2-1) this Saturday while Team Jackson (0-3) looks for their first conquest as they do battle with Team Dorsey (2-1).
