The basketball season has begun. Football is now officially over and the hardwood becomes the main attraction around the state. I have once again scoured the earth, from Bristol to Brighton bringing you the most comprehensive scoring list in the state. This has become one of our most favorite entries as college coaches have told me often how they look at the list weekly. We will have profiles from some of the top performers and a list of scoring over 25 points from East, Middle and West Tennessee.
District Tournament came to a close late last week and here are the scoring performances from all district games in the state.
Hunter Vick (Camden Central) is closing his final prep campaign on a high note leading his squad to the 11AA district title, along the way the Tennessee Tech signee managed a 36 point effort in the win over Fairview.
Big time player rise in big time games, Ole Miss signee Parker Stewart (Union City) has been a monster in the district including a 37 point effort against Halls and a 32 spot in the district title game loss to Humboldt.
Breaking a school record is cool but breaking your own is even sweeter. Michael Robinson (Elizabethton) busted 46 markers as Elizabethton defeated Unicoi County in 1AA semi-final action advancing the Cyclones to the championship game against Sullivan East.
Macon County secured the 8AA district regular season and tournament crowns behind the effort of junior star Seth Carlisle (Macon County). The husky junior was great including a 27 point effort in the semi-final win over Central Magnet.
Talk about consistent, check this out. Josh Releford (David Crockett) played three games in the 1AAA district tournament. He scored 28 against Tennessee High, added another 28 against Science Hill and closed with 28 against Dobyns-Bennett. How's that for consistent?
Picking up the slack for his injured back-court mate, Tristan Jarrett (Haywood) is the top unsigned player in the Class of 2017. He has stepped up including a big 23 point effort against Liberty Tech in the district title game.
Parker McKinney (Coalfield) is simply a very good athlete. A star on the gridiron, the 6'4 wing is an outstanding shooter and his performance in the 4A district tournament will quantify this without question. 24 points against Oakdale, 31 markers versus Oliver Springs and a 37 point effort against Wartburg Central show his scoring prowess.
