Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, twitters and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week’s story.
If you know of someone who scored over 25 points and they did not make the list please let me know and I will add them to the following weeks list.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
C.J. Anderson (Arlington) brings his talents back to Arlington and you would be hard pressed to find a better backcourt in the state than what the Tigers possess. Joining Anderson is rising senior K.J. Bates (Arlington) and sophomore transfer Nathan Hoover (Arlington), who made his presence felt this past week posting 29 in a win over Wilson Central.
Trevor Jain (Pigeon Forge) is putting up big time number for the Tigers of Pigeon Forge. The senior wing dropped 28 in a loss to Cosby and 25 in a loss to Maryville this past week.
Derrick Spears (MTCS) is fast approaching the 2,000 point barrier. His efforts this past week should help lead that charge including 28 against Eagleville and a cool 36 against Fayetteville.
Jermarcus Franklin (BTW) every season you can count on a new scoring sensation in Memphis coming from BTW. This year Franklin takes the role with a big week which included 25 against MBA and 26 against Manassas.
Brandon Crews (Walker Valley) was quite impressive in two wins this week. Crews dropped 25 in a win over McMinnCounty then added an additional 25 in a victory against Soddy Daisy.
Tyquez Itiat (Stratford) put together a very nice week of scoring dropping 30 against Lipscomb Academy then closing out the week with 25 against Glencliff.
D.J. Jackson (Fayette-Ware) is one of the top freshman in the state. His numbers speak for themselves as he continues to shine in the West Tennessee landscape. His 28 point effort against McNairy Central should testify to that.
Brady Nease (Union County) might have the prettiest stroke in the state. The junior guard had a fine week scoring 26 in a tough loss to Fulton and then canned 7 of 13 from deep finishing with 32 markers in a tough home loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman.
Jeremiah Oatsvall (Brentwood Academy) is a name everyone in the Mid-State area should familiarize themselves with and soon. The rising freshman had a big scoring week dropping 30 markers in a tough loss to BGA then closed the week with 33 in a win over Cookeville.
