Steven Kaspar (ECS) dropped 27 points, including 15 in the opening stanza to seal the deal early, as the Memphis YOMCA motored past the Chattanooga Steam 84-65 to capture the 17 and under state AAU crown.

Joining Kaspar in the scoring column was the trio of JuJuan Johnson (Southwind), Kerrell Davis (Hillcrest) and Telvin Wilkerson (Melrose) all of whom finished with 13 points.

Nick Ross (Red Bank) led the Steam with 24 points in the loss. Randy Boyd (Hixson) added 13 for the Steam.

The YOMCA finished the weekend at a cool 5-0, hardly challenged as they ran through the competition.

The YOMCA started the weekend's activities with a resounding 70 to 53 victory over the Memphis Hoopers. Kaspar and Dominique Harris (Mississippi) led the way with 17 points each.

Kedorian Sullivan (Southwind) was the big story in the second pool play game as he scorched the twine for 34 large and snatched 13 caroms leading the YOMCA past the Mid-State Ballerz 82-65.

The terrific triumvirate of Sullivan, Kaspar and Harris all accounted for a double/double in the final pool play game resulting in a 95-47 thrashing of the Memphis Hoops Stars.

Sullivan led the scoring with 24 points and found time to grab 14 boards. Kaspar finished with 15 markers and dished out 10 dimes while Harris dropped 16 points and snatched 10 boards.

In the semi-final contest, the YOMCA had their closest contest of the day pushing past the Memphis Stars 71-62 with Davis leading the scoring brigade with 17 points. Wilkerson and Harris added 12 while newcomer Fred Yarbrough (Dyer County) chipped in with 10 points.

Anthlon Bell (Bartlett) led the Stars with 21 points in the loss.
