Woods Drops 56 as Cleveland Rocky Top Fall League Concludes Their Regular Season

 

The final weekend of the Rocky Top Fall League in Cleveland saw a monster scoring performance and prepares everyone for championship day on October 6th at Maryville College. The top players from the league will represent the Cleveland area in two teams of 10. Those rosters will be posted later in the week so stay tuned to the website for more details.

 

Tennessee 83

UConn 67

Antonio Jackson (Ooltewah) made his return a big one as the rising senior notched 33 points and helped lead Tennessee to an 83-67 victory over previously unbeaten UConn.

Sam Gregory (Walker Valley) had another solid outing scoring 22 points while teammate Austin Harwood (Walker Valley) finished with 15 in the win.

Tennessee finishes the season at 4-1 and shares the Eastern Division crown with Florida.

UConn got 20 points from Dustin Little (Cleveland) and 12 from Kendrick Thompson (Cleveland) in their first loss of the season. UConn finishes at 4-1 and wraps up the Western Division title despite the loss.

  

 

Vanderbilt 79

Louisville 77

Jahmal Johnson (Cleveland) scored 18 points as Vanderbilt closed their season with a 2-3 record and a narrow 79-77 victory over Louisville. Joining Johnson in the score sheets was Lannom Sowell (Signal Mountain) with 14 and Hall Allen (Boyd Buchanan) with 10.

Jorden Williams (McCallie) scored a game high 26 and led five players in double digits in the narrow defeat. Joining Williams in the score book were Austin Walker (Boyd Buchanan) with 19, Justus McMillan (Boyd Buchanan) and Alex Watkins (Tyner Academy) with 12 points each and Jay Besley (Brainerd) with 11.

Louisville finishes their season at 1-4.

 

Florida 76

Marquette 68

Bradley McCurdy (Bradley Central) and Andrew Millsaps (Sequoyah) scored 23 and 19 respectively leading Florida to a share of the Eastern Division title with a 76-68 win over Marquette.

The effort eclipsed another fine performance from rising senior guard Jamaal Calvin (McCallie) who finished with a game high 31 points on the night.

Max Miller (McMinn Central) added 14 while Anfernee Scott (Cleveland) finished with 10 in the loss.

 

 

Auburn 118

Syracuse 85

Levi Woods (Meigs County) scored a fall league record 56 points as Auburn finished the season with two straight wins including a 118-85 drubbing of Syracuse.

Woods was big from everywhere as the rising junior showed what kind of player he was with his versatile effort from inside and out. Bradley Whymer (Soddy Daisy) chipped in with 18 in the big victory.

Miles Cothran (Ooltewah) scored 22 points to lead Syracuse. Ben Snider (Ooltewah) added 16 in the loss.

Two teams of 10 players from the Rocky Top Cleveland Fall League will compete on October 6th at Maryville College against two of the teams from the Knoxville Rocky Top Fall League. Those games will be at 1:00 and 2:00. Teams will be announced later in the week.
