Wilson Outstanding as Knoxville Rocky Top Fall League Finishes the Regular Season

 

Week #5 and the final week of the regular season saw some serious action as teams moved and fought for positioning on Championship Saturday, October 6th at Maryville College. Let's get to the action shall we.

 

 

Team Moore 58

Team Wannamaker 47

Devin Sibley (Karns) netted 20 points as Team Moore finished their season 5-0 and captured a date in the Championship game on October 6th at Maryville College with a 58-47 victory over Team Wannamaker.

A close contest was broke open by the scoring of Sibley and Tyler Maples (Karns), who finished with 14 points on the day. Gunnar St. Johns (Campbell County) had a nice day finishing with 10 points in the victory.

Kelvin Jackson (Fulton) and Deonta Bizzle-Brown (Hardin Valley) led Team Wannamaker with 12 points each. The loss drops them to 1-4 on the season.

Team Moore will battle against Team Mathews in the title game at 3:00 on Championship Saturday while Team Wannamaker takes on Team Driscoll at 10:00. 

 

 

Team Lee 78

Team Driscoll 61

Oterriah Lee (CAK) led five teammates in double digits as Team Lee escaped with a 78-61 victory over Team Driscoll this past Saturday at Knoxville Catholic. Lee, who finished with 20 points, was assisted in the score book by Dylan Keck (CAK) with 16, Isaiah Campbell (Bearden) with 13 and Brady Smith (Bearden) with 10.

Tennessee football commitment Camion Patrick (Knoxville West) led Team Driscoll with 18 points on the day.

With the win Team Lee moves to 2-3 and will battle Team Jackson (1-4) in the 11:00 contest on Championship Saturday at Maryville College. Team Driscoll (2-3) will do battle with Team Wannamaker at 10:00.

 

 

Team Smith 78

Team Jackson 68

Andre Wilson (Austin East) was outstanding as the rinsing junior finished with 24 points leading Team Smith to a 78-68 victory over a surging Team Jackson. Wilson got plenty of scoring help including 19 large from improving big man Marcellus Roberts (Knoxville Central). DeJon McGill (Austin East) contributed 14 as Team Smith took the second place finish with a final regular season record of 3-2.

Isaac Merian (Oak Ridge) saved his best for last as the rising junior finished with 22 points on the day. Kyle Gunther (Sunbright) added 13 and Cory Fagan (Oak Ridge) playing in his first game since breaking a bone in his hand added 10 in the loss.

Team Smith will take on Cleveland #2 at 2:00 at Maryville College on October 6th while Team Jackson (1-4) goes to work at 11:00 against Team Lee.

 

 

Team Riddick 75

Team Watts 73

Clark McCall (Maryville) never touched the rim as the shooting sensation finished with 21 points leading Team Riddick to a narrow 75-73 victory over a much improved Team Watts.

McCall got help from his high school mates as Isaac Edmiston (Maryville) finished with 17 and Brian Landers (Maryville) added 16 in the win.

Sam Greene (Bearden) continued his torrid scoring pace dropping a league high 28 points in the loss. Tyler Yoder (Stone Memorial) had an outstanding day as the rising junior finished with 17 markers in the close defeat.

Team Riddick took second place in the Lofton Division and for their reward they get Cleveland #1 at 1:00 on Championship Saturday at Maryville College. Team Watts, who finished the regular season at 2-3, closed strong and will take on Team Dorsey at 12:00.

 

 

Team Matthews 81

Team Dorsey 72

Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) played the role of spoiler as the rising senior marksman scored 25 points leading Team Matthews into the title game with an 81-72 victory over a hard fighting Team Dorsey.

Rowan broke open a close game with several big second half shots while Alex "The Franchise" Fountain (Wartburg Central) held his end up with several tip dunks and short jumpers finishing with 17 points. Justin Simmons (Stone Memorial) and Jacob Cawood (Midway) finished with 11 and 10 respectively.

Xavier Howard (Harriman) had a nice day scoring 20 points to lead Team Dorsey who finished the regular season at 2-3. Steffan Schroeder (Gatlinburg-Pittman) added 12 and Hayden Fritz (Jefferson County) added 10 in the loss.

Team Matthews clinches the title in the Lofton Division and will tangle with Bradshaw Division and unbeaten Team Moore at 3:00 for the title contest. Team Dorsey goes to war with Team Watts at 12:00.
