Who Rules Indy…Team Thad 16s Reigning at UAA

The buzz if for real. Coaches from all walks of life descended on Indianapolis for Session II of the Under Armour Association and their destination was clear....Team Thad 16s.

 

 

 

The 16s disregarded life going 4-0 besting some of the top squads in the Association and left themselves on top of the heap overall in the Pursuit Division at 7-1.

The first victim New Heights fell to the Bluff City noys 79-52 behind 18 from 2019 national stud D.J. Jeffries (Mississippi) with 18 followed closely by Garrett Golday (Arlington) with 17 markers. Tyler Harris (Cordova) pitched in with 12 while Rodgerick Brown (Cordova) added 11.

Harris got hot early and often as Team Thad bullied the Houston Defenders 102-63. The dynamic Harris led the scoring with 24 while Brown chipped in with 23. Bruce Guy (Houston) chipped in with 14 while Jeffries and Drue Drinnen (Georgia) each added 10.

Jeffries took this one personal dropping 28 as Team Thad slowed down the Atlanta Xpress 87-59. Drinnen chipped in with 12 while the triumvirate of Harris, Brown and Rayshard Williams (Lausanne) all dropped 10.

Drinnen saved his best for last as he dangled 24 as Team Thad poisoned the Florida Vipers 73-66. Harris pitched in with 17 while Brown closed the scoring with 10.

Team Thad has shown their dominance thus far as they lead the UAA in scoring, steals, assists, 3-pointers made and percentage. Harris is currently 1st in steals and assists and stands 9th in scoring at 15.5 per game. Drinnen is 7th in scoring at 15.9 per contest. Jeffries is 2nd in rebounding at 8.4 and is scoring at an 11.8 clip.

 

In the 17 and under classification Team Thad started slow losing their first two games but finishing right winning their next two.

Dedric Boyd (Haywood) had the hot hand early scoring 29 points but it wasn't enough as Team Thad couldn't hold an early lead and fell to the powerful Indy Hoosiers 62-58. Ruot Monyyong (White's Creek) added 10 in the close loss.

Boyd again led the scoring brigade with 16 as Team Thad lost a heartbreaker 76-75 to the Illinois Wolves. C.J. Marshall (Southwind) and Desmond Johnson (Kirby) each scored a dozen while Ruot added 11 in the narrow defeat.

Team Thad got back on the winning track scoring a 76-71 win over 1 Nation behind 23 from Brandon Belt (Alabama). Boyd added 17 while Marshall chipped in with 13 in the win.

Belt again took scoring honors with 19 as Team Thad closed hard and strong 85-58 over Showtyme Hoops. Marshall added 18, Boyd notched 12 and Big Ruot added 10 in the victory.

For the 17s the 2-2 finish in Indianapolis moves them to 5-3 overall after two sessions of the UAA.
