Championship Saturday at Maryville College saw a host of very intense games some came down to the wire, we had our first overtime contest and a champion was crowned.

Cumberland/Roane County 87

Union County 81

The day started off like a house on fire with the first overtime contest in the Pilot Rocky Top High School Fall League this season.

Cumberland/Roane County got 22 points from Cory Billingsley (Sweetwater) and 20 more from Darrius Gallaher (Harriman) to slip past a determined Union County squad in overtime 87-81.

Union County held a double digit lead early in the first half behind some deadeye shooting from Stetson Moore (Knoxville Halls) and Cory Poteet (Campbell County).

Cumberland/Roane playing with a depleted lineup chipped away at the lead but couldn't pull away as rising senior Chase Buckner (Union County) playing one of his best overall games to date finishing with 25 points and kept Cumberland/Roane from pulling away.

Joining Billingsley and Gallaher in the scoring column was Brock Rowan (Stone Memorial) with 17 markers, rising sophomore Alex Fountain (Wartburg Central) who finished with 16 and Jordan Huddleston (Kingston) who added 12 points in the win.

Poteet finished with 16 and Moore added 13 for Union County. Nick Litton (Campbell County) added 12 points in the tough loss.

Rico White (Bearden) came alive in the second half scoring 24 of his 28 points in the second stanza and lifting Team Nabors to a tough 70-69 victory over a physical and determined Blount County squad.

White seemingly took the game over with every possession on the line late in the game. JuJuan Williams (Knoxville West) finished with 16 points in the win.

Cody Malicotte (Jellico) led the Blount County squad with 13 points. T.J. Kimble (Maryville), a rising sophomore added 12 while Landon Hilton (Lenoir City) and Matt Shown (Alcoa) pitched in 11 and 10 points respectively.
