Week #3 State Scoring Leaders

Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, face books and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.

If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week's story.

College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.

Austin Mullinax (Waverly Central) recently eclipsed the 1,000 point barrier for his career and is helping lead the Tigers to a quick start under new coach Less Trotter. Mullinax was at his best last week including a sic 29 point performance against Obion County.

Zamarlus Griffin (BTW) has picked up the slack in a major way for the Warriors of BTW. A state tournament squad last season saw the departures of Martavious Newby to the SEC and rising sophomore sensation Khalil Spencer to Mitchell. Griffin has filled the scoring void nicely including a triumvirate of points this past week including 33 against Power Center Academy, 30 against Westwood and 25 against KIPP.

Andre Wilson (Austin East) is one of the best players in East Tennessee. His 30 point effort against district rival Carter will certainly attest to that.

Jacob Williams (Wilson Central) is truly a hidden gem. The rising junior combo guard busted out for 33 markers against Beech and continues to climb in the eyes of coaches everywhere.

Jeremy Hemphill (Memphis Central) has embraced the role of scoring guard for the Warriors of Memphis Central this season. Hemphill went to work last week scoring 32 points against Manassas and adding a cool 26 against Douglass.

Ganda Ameri (Smyrna) has been a nice surprise in the Mid-state area. The inside scoring force dropped 25 in a game against Shelbyville last week and for good measure added an additional 23 against Tullahoma.

Skal Labiessiere (ECS) is simply one of the best players in the Class of 2015, not only in the state but certainly on the national level as well. The 6'10 rising sophomore has a sweet time scoring 33 points in a victory over USJ and adding 31 extra against Bartlett to close out the week.
