Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, face books and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week's story.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
Andrew Fleming (Ensworth) is off to a blazing start. The rising sophomore shooting guard once again topped the 40 point barrier notching 40 even against Aaron Academy. Fleming went for over 40 twice the previous week.
Demetrius Dyson (Covington) is no joke my friends. The rising senior had a great week scoring 30 against Haywood and capping the week with 24 additional against South Gibson.
Andre Wilson (Austin East) is a name everyone will know and soon. The rising junior guard notched 32 markers against Gibbs in early district action this past week.
DeSean Dockery (Ridgeway) will no longer be overlooked in the city of Memphis. The 6'6 rising senior is set to make this a memorable final campaign. Dockery was at his finest notching 27 large in a huge Roadrunner victory over White Station.
Derrick Spears (MTCS) and Jacob McLennan (Huntland) put on a scoring exhibition this past week as Spears notched a game high 36 points leading MTCS to a narrow 77-67 victory over Huntland. McLennan, a rising senior, notched 32 markers in the loss.
Xavier Howard (Harriman) is in the process of making a mockery of the record books in this his final campaign on the prep level. The sturdy lefty is simply assaulting the scoring records this season as he added 35 more in a big win over Oakdale.
Heath Mansfield (Lawrence County) is a model of consistency. The rising senior is a mainstay on the scoring list and his 25 points against a very good Blackman squad this week is nothing to take lightly.
