Travelers 16’s Dominate Shootout Take ‘Ship…Williams Named MVP

That in a nutshell describes the performance of the Tennessee Travelers 16 and under squad.

DeAngelo Williams (Spring Hill) captures the MVP award and the Travelers survive their closest encounter against Indiana Elite Green Wave to capture the 2008 Hoosier Shootout 56-54.

Williams was flat out outstanding according to coaches and onlookers at the event. His leadership went a long way in helping this Travelers squad capture the gold.

Balance and team effort described this squad for this entire event. The scoring was spread out evenly with different players stepping up in different games, truly a team effort.

Brandon Herman (Grace Baptist) closed out strong and picked up a couple of D1 offers for his troubles. Robert Boyd (Fulton) and Linwood Holloway (Knoxville Central) were the emotional leaders with hustle and spirit whether in the game or cheering on teammtes. Tyler Hood (Lenoir City), Dwight Tarwater (Knoxville Webb), Fred Sturdivant (Brainerd) and Devin Jackson (Knoxville West) all made their presence felt throughout the week.

The Travs will head up next week to the Harley Davidson Jam Fest in Morgantown, West Virginia to continue their July caravan.
