The Tennessee Tigers 15 and under squad used 20 points from rising sophomore stud JaQuan Lewis (Dickson County) to end their Kentucky Hoop Fest run with a championship in the silver bracket.
Lewis was outstanding the entire weekend controlling the tempo with his incredible handles and scoring off the dribble against hapless defenders.
Jalen Lindsey (CPA) finished with 18 in the title game and was joined in the scoring column by C.J. McEwen (DCA) with 13 points.
The Tigers needed 18 points from Lewis as they won their semi-final game by eight.
Superb effort by all the Tigers including Lewis, Lindsey, McEwen, Kesler Bell (FRA), Al Cobb (Giles County), Austin Howard (Giles County), Gunnar Miller (Davidson Academy), Kevin Peterson (Marshall County), Thomas Richard (CPA) and Cameron Robinson (Davidson Academy).
The Nashville Celtics used an incredible four game run in Indianapolis and a five game win streak in Louisville before falling in the Gold bracket championship game to the B.A. Hoyas 84-71.
The Celtics rode the three headed guard play of Kendall Anthony (Liberty Tech), Zavion Williams (West Creek) and Anthony Hickey (Kentucky) all the way to the title game. These three backcourt studs put forth the kind of effort that July demands and their recruitment will show.
Mark Brown (Station Camp) knocked down threes at a steady pace while Whit Thornton (MBA) and David Clendenen (Baylor) did the majority of the dirty work inside.
Alex Poythress (Clarksville Northeast) continued his climb towards the top of the national charts while Devin Langford (Alabama) had a great deal of coaches singing his athletic praises.
