Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, face books and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week's story.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
Weather affected the scheduling all around the state so this week's list is shorter than most have been thus far.
Darius Thompson (Blackman) simply made a statement. The Vanderbilt commitment busted out for 38 points as Blackman put it to Siegel in a huge district showdown early last week.
Toby Frierson (Mt. Pleasant) puts his name in the record books for the Tigers as the senior guard surpasses the coveted 1,000 point mark for his high school career.
Terrell Jones (Northside) may not be a household name in Memphis but this senior guard is lighting up the score sheets. He started the week with 29 against Soulsville then completed his mission with 29 against MBA.
Reggie Upshaw (Baylor) made his return to the hardwood very memorable scoring 31 points and securing the win over arch-rival McCallie. The MTSU signee has been sidelined this season with a broken leg.
Corn Elder (Ensworth) continues to mystify the mid-state area with his exploits on the basketball floor. Corn dropped 28 in a win over BGA, followed up with 26 in a nice victory over PJPII, and then added 25 in a loss to top ranked CPA.
Tyrone Wooten (Trezevant) was a staple on this list last season but this year better surrounding support has his scoring down till this week when the senior guard broke loose for 26 against Raleigh-Egypt and 31 against Kingsbury.
Mason Ramsey (Livingston Academy) is playing some of the best hoops of his life at this point of the season. The senior forward scored 31 points against Cannon County last Friday pushing him over the 2,000 point barrier for his career. He had a 28 point outing against DeKalb County earlier in the week.
Orlando Moore (Brainerd) had a game to write home about this past week. Moore scored 27 points against Hixson and snatched 20 caroms as well. Nice effort big fella.
