One of our favorite features is back. Coaches have told me this is what they wait for each week. I have scoured the news sources from around the state and come up with the top scoring efforts. This has become increasingly harder as the local newspapers are no longer putting box scores in the paper. I could use your help if you find or know of anyone scoring over 25 points in a game, please let me know. I can be reached at andre@tnprephoops.com or @tnprephoops on twitter.
Small schools don't usually get the same pub that some of the bigger named schools out West do, so lets take this opportunity to give props to Levi Dees (Greenfield). Dees broke the school record with 44 points against Dresden.
In Middle Tennessee, Nic Barstad (Tullahoma) is putting together a solid senior campaign. The 6'2 shooting guard surpassed the 1,000 point barrier for his career with a 25 point game against Smyrna.
Mason McKnatt (Grace Christian) is without a doubt one of the finest shooters not only in the Mid-State but in the entire state. The lanky Class of 2020 prospect is headed towards becoming the schools all-time leading scorer as he surpasses the 1,000 point barrier half-way through his sophomore campaign.
How's this for a nice couple of weeks, Dillon Fountain (Wartburg Central) had a 43 point outburst on our last scoring list, this time he comes in with a 41 spot against Sunbright, a 34 point effort against Oneida and a just for good measure a quick 25 in a holiday tournament game.
Congrats are in order for Darius Garland (Brentwood Academy). The Vanderbilt signee not only surpassed the 2,000 point plateau but he was selected to participate in the prestigious McDonald's All-American game in April. Congrats Darius.
Trevor Hensley (Unicoi County) continues to pile up the accolades. The rising senior scoring guard became his schools all-time leading scorer on our last list now he is putting the mark out of reach dropping his 2,000 point with a 42 point effort against Sullivan Central.
I love the 1,000 point list and here are two new members to this prestigious club. Cam Smith (Pigeon Forge) has been lighting up this board all season congrats to the senior guard as he joins the vaunted 1,000 club and etches his name in Tiger folklore. David Deacon (Lenoir City) has also been making the score keepers work this hoops campaign. The lanky 6'5 senior joined a select group as he rode past the 1,000 point mark for his career with the Panthers.
Here is name to put on your respective lists. Class of 2020 has found another high scoring young guard tearing up the Middle Tennessee landscape. Ryley McClaren (Forrest) is a sharp shooting lefty who had games of 31 against Giles County and 27 against Nolensville recently. Keep a sharp eye out on this one.
Ryan Bledsoe (Cherokee) is putting up serious numbers in upper East Tennessee. A 43 point effort against Volunteer, a 31 point outburst against Grainger and a cool 28 against Dobyns-Bennett. For his efforts Bledsoe has surpassed the coveted 1,000 point barrier. Congrats young man.
