The mighty one was at his glorious best this past weekend.
"Mighty" Chris Jones (Melrose) wanted the folks in Knoxville to see how much he enjoys being on campus.
From what we saw, I think he is very comfortable here.
The state tournament MVP went on a scoring spree reminiscent of his outbursts at last season's Bob Gibbon's Tournament of Champions, dangling in his last four games 30, 37 and then 52 on CP3 All-Stars and their bevy of D1 talent.
Jones, who ran this weekend with the Arkansas Wings, finished the championship game of the second annual Knox Vegas Heat with 37 but couldn't keep his team in the lead as they fell in overtime to the World Wide Renegades.
The Knoxville Panthers had a very nice showing this weekend before falling in their semi-final game on Sunday morning. The Panthers played late Friday night and then three times on Saturday before this Sunday contest, I think fatigue eventually caught up with them.
Dustin Clarke (North Carolina) was outstanding all weekend using his above average athletic skills to get to the bucket and showed his much improved range from the outside. The Panthers got a solid effort inside from Jason Steele (Johnson County), who showed marked improvement with his offensive skills around the bucket.
