"Mighty" Chris Jones (Melrose) has always been one of the most exciting players in the Classof 2011 in our state now lets see what he can do on the national scene.
Jones has become the talk of the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions with his scoring outbursts.
The diminutive guard has games of 47, 28 and a eye poppping 41 in a tough 110-106 loss to the tough Atlanta Celtics.
Then to add to the burgeoining legend he stepped up and led the Stallions to a 90-77 victory over the Dallas Seawolves in the opening round of the select bracket. What did the Mighty one do for his encore.
He went 15 of 28 from the field, 5 of 6 from the line, dropped 5 threes added 6 dimes and 7 caroms to finish with 40 points.
With all the talk and focus on Jones the Stallions have recieved solid effort from the likes of Nick Mason (Southwind) who added 17 in the win over Dallas.
The Stallions finished pool play 2-1 losing to the Celtics with Darius Paige (Southwind) adding 22, Mason with 16 and Montez Fifer (Southwind) with 15.
Paige dropped 15 along with Jones' 47 in an earlier win and Walter Davis (Southwind) scored 16 with Bradon Wright (Hillcrest), who showed some real athleticism and promise in the bracket win. He had 10 in the earlier pool game.
The Stallions will be in action tomorrow morning as they attempt to advance back to the Dean Dome.
