Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, face books and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week's story.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
Alex Fountain (Wartburg Central) had himself a nice holiday. The Houston Baptist signee dropped 31 on York and finished with a cool 25 against Meigs County. His scoring efforts moved him to 1,700 points for his career and pushed him to the top of all-time Wartburg Central scoring list.
Terry Holt (East Nashville) is quickly making his way up the rankings in the Class of 2014. The junior guard had a fine holiday season scoring 28 points in the title game lifting his East Nashville squad over Overton in their Christmas Classic.
Devin Sibley (Karns) continues to impress on the East Tennessee landscape. The junior guard had a solid holiday season scoring 29 against Knoxville West and adding an additional 28 in a victory over Kingston.
Robert Brandon (Siegel) might consider making Alaska his home. The senior combo guard went off in the snow helping the Stars to three big wins. Brandon was consistent yet broke clear with a 28 point effort against Bartlett (AK).
DreSean Looney (Southwind) is not usually the name associated with scoring at Southwind but the senior guard picked up the slack for his big brothers dropping 27 markers in a classic victory over Hamilton.
Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) got everything he wanted for Christmas and more including MVP honors at the Watertown Christmas Classic. Saunders dropped 28 in the title game after a 25 point effort earlier in the event.
Devin Schmidt (Sevier County) is still arguably the best player in the state that hardly anyone has seen or heard about. The Delta State signee had a joyful Christmas tournament effort at Maryville starting with 26 markers against Stone Memorial, followed by a 40 spot against Austin East, 23 more against Maryville in the semi-finals and finally a solid 14 in the 3rd place victory over Maplewood.
