“The Assassin” Shines as Rocky Top Fall League Action Tips in Knoxville

The Rocky Top Fall League in Knoxville tipped off this weekend with some sterling action at Grace Christian in Knoxville. Let's get to the results.

 

Team Matthews 73

Team Watts 62

Brock "The Assassin" Rowan (Stone Memorial) put his best foot forward dropping 24 points including 20 in the second half as Team Matthews bested a determined Team Watts 73-62 at the Rocky Top Fall League at Grace Christian School in Knoxville.

Rowan had some help in the scoring column as Justin Simmons (Stone Memorial) added 14 in the win.

Adarius Wilson (Bearden) led four players in double digits for Team Watts dropping 16. Joining Wilson include Stephen Holcomb (Lenoir City) with 14, Cameron Turner (Farragut) with 13 and Jordan Belvin (Loudon) with 10.

Team Matthews (1-0) tangles with Team Driscoll (1-0) at CAK on Saturday while Team Watts (0-1) will battle Team Smith (0-1).

 

Team Dorsey 70

Team Smith 65

Devin Schmidt (Sevier County) and Xavier Howard (Harriman) dropped 15 points each as Team Dorsey held off a furious charge in the closing minutes to secure a 70-65 victory over Team Smith.

Clay Leatherwood (Gatlinburg-Pittman) added 11 markers in the win.

Daijon McGill (Austin East) took game scoring honors with 20 and helped lead the comeback which fell just short in the final seconds. Andre Wilson (Austin East) added 16 and fellow Roadrunner Imani Miller (Austin East) finished with 11.

Team Dorsey (1-0) battles Team Moore (1-0) on Saturday at CAK while Team Smith (0-1) sets for action against Team Watts (0-1).

 

Team Moore 58

Team Jackson 57

Devin Sibley (Karns) scored 18 points as Team Moore held off Team Jackson 58-57 at the Rocky Top Fall League in Knoxville. Stetson Moore (Knoxville Halls) finished with 10 points in the narrow victory.

Kyle Gunther (Sunbright) took game scoring honors with 22 markers including 6 from the bent line. Jalin Henderson (Oak Ridge) added 18 in the tough loss.

Team Jackson (0-1) will face Team Wannamaker (0-1) on Saturday at CAK while Team Moore (1-0) will battle fellow unbeaten Team Dorsey (1-0).

 

Team Driscoll 63

Team Riddick 48

Micah Goss (Fulton) helped open up a close contest at the break scoring 18 points and leading the defensive charge as Team Driscoll raced past Team Riddick 63-48. Goss was joined in the scorebook by Kyle Anders (Knoxville Catholic) with 12 and Darius Filer (Fulton) with 10.

Brian Landers (Maryville) led Team Riddick with 18 markers.

Team Driscoll (1-0) puts their unblemished record on the line against Team Matthews (1-0) on Saturday at CAK. Team Riddick (0-1) looks to rebound taking on Team Lee (1-0).

 

Team Lee 76

Team Wannamaker 49

Balanced scoring proved to the method of victory as Team Lee came out with a 76-49 victory over Team Wannamaker in the final contest of the Rocky Top League at Grace Christian this past Saturday.

Four players finished in double digits for Team Lee including Nick Campbell (CAK) with 15, Justin Jenkins (Knoxville Webb) with 13, Brady Smith (Bearden) with 12 and Oterriah Lee (CAK) with 11.

Kelvin Jackson (Fulton) led all scorers with 16 followed closely by teammate Blake Golden (Fulton) with 15.

Team Lee (1-0) puts their clean record on the line Saturday at CAK against Team Riddick (0-1) while Team Wannamaker (0-1) looks to bounce back against Team Jackson (0-1).
