The summer season is upon us and as everyone gets their rosters into gear some squads hit the playing surface and got the summer of 2012 underway a bit early.

The Tennessee Tigers made their presence felt winning four games and capturing the title at the AAU Super Regional in Montgomery, Alabama last week.

JaQuan Lewis (Dickson County) led all scorers with 26 points in the championship game, a 66-50 thrashing of the Alabama Challenge. Bryce Copeland (Bradley Central) and Mason Ramsey (Livingston Academy) chipped with 8 apiece in the title contest.

The Tigers got the event underway fighting for a 70-65 victory over that same Alabama Challenge bunch. Lewis, a VCU commitment, led the scoring with 17 points and 7 dimes followed closely by C.J. McEwen (Mt. Juliet) with 16 and Ramsey with 13.

Victim #2, the Tennessee Edge fell 80-57 with Lewis dropping 18, Tyler Spicer (Dickson County) adding 17 and newcomer Cole Harrison (Brentwood) finished with 12.

In the semi-finals the Tigers used 19 from Copeland, 17 from Lewis and 14 from McEwen to disintegrate the Mississippi Magic 63-46.

The Tigers got solid board work the entire tournament from Ramsey and Justin Coleman (Beech).

Gunnar Miller (Davidson Academy) was also lauded for his defensive efforts including 4 steals in the opener.
