Tennessee Panthers Take 2014 Hoops Classic

The Tennessee Panthers 16 and under crew got the summer season off to a rousing start capturing the 2014 Hoops Classic championship with a 66-58 triumph over the Tennessee Jets.  

 

 

 

Ross Plunkett (Creek Wood) took game scoring honors with 15 in the title clash.

The Panthers finished 5-0 starting with an 80-22 drubbing of the Tennessee Storm behind 14 markers from Austin Brown (Mt. Juliet).

Jake West (Hendersonville) took scoring honors in Game #2 as the Panthers schooled the Tennessee Basketball Academy to the tune of 86-32.

The final pool play game saw the Panthers gliding past the Clarksville Stars 85-33 with Bryson Baker (East Literature) snatching game scoring honors with 14 points.

The Panthers got a bye in the first round of bracket play then proceeded to tame the Alabama Terriers 62-52 with Tavares Hailey (MLK) leading the scoring brigade with 16 markers.

A different player led the scoring in each game showing the versatility of the Panthers crew.

Coaches were quick to point out the significant contributions from Austin Douglas (Cheatham County), Brandon Dansoh (Cane Ridge) and Preston Brown (Hendersonville) especially on the glass.

Marquis Davis (LaVergne) and Kyrie Elder (Cane Ridge) led the Panthers in assists over the weekend.
