Tennessee Fury Make Strides at Big Shots Atlanta

Big Shots Atlanta was the venue as the 15 and under Tennessee Fury took the short drive down I75 to peddle their wares against some of the best teams in the Southeast.

In the opener the Fury would be tested by the seasoned success of the Next Level squad from Kentucky.

Tenacious in the first half the Fury left too many points off the board with missed shots and fell 54-49.

A tough 6 minute scoring drought in the second half was more than the Fury could overcome.

Spencer Lowe (Maryville) led the way for the Fury with 12 points and 9 caroms while Jonny McHenry (Knoxville West) finished with 10 markers. Mac Brower (Georgia) added 9 in the loss.

TMP from South Carolina was opponent #2 for the Fury and a defensive struggle ensued to the tune of a hard fought 43-41 loss.

Another second half drought had the Fury reeling until Brower worked his magic scoring buckets, dropping dimes and willing his team back into the game.

Brower led the scoring brigade with 12 while Lowe, Connor Arnold (Grace Christian) and Blake Grindstaff (Science Hill) all did yeoman's work on the glass to keep the game close until the end.

Sunday would prove to be a new day as the Fury tasted the sweet success of victory corralling the Team Georgia Elite Outlaws 52-36.

Brower again led the scoring with 14 points and found time to dish out five assists as well. Lowe was a monster on the glass snatching 14 errant shots and finishing the event as the top rebounder to the tune of 9.3 per game.

Brower would also garner top assist honors with 2 per game while Lowe also excelled in the shot blocking department averaging 1.3 per game to take tourney honors in that category as well.

Josh Releford (Science Hill) proved to be a mismatch waiting to happen with his quickness on both sides of the ball while significant contributions came from T.D. Blackman (Maryville), Tyrique Price (Science Hill), Ben Andrews (Grace Christian) and the aforementioned McHenry, Grindstaff and Arnold.

The Fury will remain close to home this coming weekend as they participate in the 6th annual Knox Vegas Heat tourney in Knoxville.
