Tennessee Fury Hang Tough at Boo Williams

The best part about the summer/AAU scene is the variety of venues and events that are available to the teams making the trek to be seen by the college coaches during the live period.

The Tennessee Fury hit the road to Hampton, Virginia to participate in the Boo Williams Exposure Event in the grand complex that features the local legends moniker.

The Fury started strong with a 68-50 win over the Virginia Fusion Elite. Connor Arnold (Grace Christian) led a very balanced scoring attack with 15 followed by Spencer Lowe (Maryville) with 9. Arnold also managed to grab 10 rebounds to compete the double/double. Luke Smith (Knoxville Catholic) dropped 7 dimes for the Fury effort.

Victim #2 saw the Fury blast the CTS Elite from Philadelphia starting the game with a 33-4 run and cruising from there. Smith led the scoring charge with 24 followed by Nick Rogers (Farragut) with 17, Josh Releford (David Crockett) with 15, Arnold added 14 and Bowden Lyons (Science Hill) chipped in with 10.

The win advanced the Fury to the Gold Bracket semi's against the eventual tourney champion Pro Look from Virginia. In a game marred by some unfortunate calls, ejections and utter chaos the resulting 6 point swing was a momentum killer and the Fury fell 74-65 despite 16 from Arnold, 15 from Smith and 13 from Rogers.

In the consolation game the Fury closed the event on a high note with a big win over the D1 Flight from Virginia. Arnold continued his solid weekend with 18 markers, Smith added 16 and 5 dimes while Releford chipped in with 12 and Rogers finished with 9.

Coaches were quick to mention the contributions of Ty Patterson (Knoxville West) and C.J. Massengill (Hamilton Heights).
