Listen close to the tale of simply one of the best 16 and under teams in the entire country.
Yes not just in Tennessee but the entire country.
Team Thad put the hurt on their pool play competition then smashed a very good SYF Hoopmatics squad 100-64 in opening round bracket action at Westfield High School this evening.
Leron Black (White Station) is simply a man among little boys. The 6'7 phenom runs the floor, battles on the glass, scores in every conceivable way, defends and even made an assist or two, he's a keeper my friends.
Team Thad puts the press on their unsuspecting opponent like a gigantic boa constrictor and then proceeds to squeeze the life out of their victim as they chalk up another impressive win.
Chris Chiozza (Bartlett), C.J. Anderson (Arlington), Anton Beard (Arkansas) and Marcanvis Hymon (Whitehaven) make up arguably the best starting five in this age group ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!
The press takes a lot out of the opponent and the first five as well so Coach Hurd calls upon a host of impressive reserves including Fatodd Lewis (Raleigh-Egypt), T.Q. Brewster (Craigmont), Ladarius Coleman (Craigmont) and Mark Partee (Mississippi).
The party continues tomorrow and will not stop until Team Thad hoists the championship trophy.
The Nashville Celtics and Team Nashville each won their pool in 16 and under action and both completed a first round victory in platinum playoff action this evening. Hopefully we can find some stats for these two deserving squads.
Select Basketball lost an overtime heartbreaker to finish second in their pool action. Jake Allsmiller (CPA) was magnificent in the opening round rout scoring a team high 19 points. Nathan Moran (BGA) added 17 while Andrew Cowie (BGA) and Braxton Bonds (CPA) finished with 13 and 10 respectively.
Andy Schumpert (Brentwood) took scoring honors in the second pool play victory with 15 while Moran continued his fine play with 14. Alsmiller added 11, Cowie 10 in the victory.
Schumpert again led with 14 in the gut wrenching overtime loss. Alsmiller chipped in with 13, Bonds and Parker Howell (CPA) added 12.
The Memphis Magic Elite 15 and under squad trudged through pool play unblemished and managed a slick win in the opening round of bracket action before falling to the 1st players late last night.
Malik Hicks (Jackson Southside), Chris McNeal (Jackson Southside), Elijah Mase (Melrose) and Rodney Webb (Melrose) all played very well for the Magic.
The Nashville Celtics 15's finished 3rd in their pool and we hope to have some scoring information on them tomorrow.
