Team Penny Shines in Nike EYBL Session #2

Boo Williams was the place as Session #2 of the Nike EYBL
took center stage in Hampton,
Virginia
.


 


Team Penny came through with another outstanding effort
finishing the weekend at 3-2 moving their seasonal mark to 5-4 as the April
period comes to a close.


 


Skal Labiessiere
(ECS)
made his presence felt often and early notching 22 points as Team
Penny opened on Friday with a sound 73-68 victory over Southern Stampede. Anton Beard (Arkansas)
added 17 in the victory while rising sophomore Dedric Lawson (Hamilton)
finished with 11.

Lawson (Hamilton)
took scoring honors with 15 each as Team Penny moved their mark to 2-0 on
the weekend with a 69-66 victory over Seattle Rotary. Lawson was also huge on
the glass as he notched 10 caroms. Joining the dynamic duo in the scorebooks
were Labiessiere with a cool double/double of 10 and 10 and Davell Roby (White Station) with 10.


 


Game #3 proved to be a tough one as Team Penny fought hard
but couldn't overcome a physical Howard Pulley squad falling 58-53. Lawson was
big dropping a team high 17.


 


Team Penny got back to their winning ways with a 91-62
victory over Travelers Basketball. K.J. Lawson simply went off scoring 31
points and snatched 10 boards leading a bevy of double digits scorers for the Bluff City
crew.


 


Labiessiere continues to make himself a national presence
with a 20 points, 17 rebound effort. Keon
Peoples (Melrose)
added 15, Roby notched a dozen and D. Lawson finished with 11 in the win.


 


Roby took scoring honors with 21 markers but they would not
be enough as Team Penny fell to the ICP Elite 86-75. Labiessiere added 15 while
the brother Lawson chipped in with a dozen each.


 


Staying at Boo Williams, Rob Marberry (FRA) had himself a fine weekend for Travelers
Basketball as the rising senior put together some of his best efforts to date
including a 14 point, 7 rebound performance against the New Jersey Playaz.


 


Marberry matched his scoring total with 14 in the loss to
Team Penny but notched 12 markers and 7 caroms in a win over Nike Team Louisiana.
