Team Penny 15U Captures AAU National Championship

Team Penny behind 14 points and 7 caroms from D.J. Jackson (Fayette-Ware) and 13 points from Rodarious Washington (Memphis East) defeated the Arkansas Wings Elite 53-41 to bring home the big trophy as the national champions of the 15 and under division at the AAU Nationals in Little Rock.

 

 

 

Team Penny rode a gaudy 7-0 winning streak to the title game starting with an easy 59-25 drubbing of the MBA Warhawks. P.J. Washington (Texas) led the charge with 19 markers for Team Penny. Jackson added 9 boards to the fray while Tyran Davis (Mississippi) and Jeremiah Oatsvall (Brentwood Academy) each contributed 3 dimes.

Game #2 saw the Bluff City crew dispose of NDA to the tune of 105-55 behind 22 points and 9 boards from Washington and another 20 from R. Washington.

4SL caught the Team Penny wrath by the score of 95-59 with Washington dropping 21 and 9. Jackson came back with 17 and 6 while R. Washington added 16 and 7 for some very balanced scoring among the big three.

Washington was huge as Team Penny climbed to 4-0 with 19 points and 18 caroms in a 65-41 dispatching of Xpress Sports. Davis added 13 points while Jackson contributed 9 boards. Kylan Watkins (Whitehaven) dished out 5 assists in the win.

Tyree Beason (BTW) took scoring honors with 17 as Team Penny moved into the Final Four with a 74-62 win over MBA Hoops. Jackson was a double/double machine with 15 each way. Oatsvall added 5 assists in the victory.

Washington was back to his scoring ways notching 24 points and snatching 11 boards as Team Penny advanced to the title clash against the Elite by beating little brother the Arkansas Wings to the tune of 70-60.
