Three Up......Three Down

Word on the street is don't go scheduling Team Nashville if you have any delusions of winning a basketball tournament this summer.

The boys from the Music City are making huge waves nationwide dominating their vertically superior competition with tough guard play and all out relentless effort and teamwork.

After falling to their first defeat of the summer in pool play to the Arkansas Hawks, Team Nashville started bracket action against arguably the top team of this summer period the Florida Rams at the annual Wallace Prather Memorial Tournament in Atlanta.

Like a flash three games later, Team Nashville is on its way to a 65-58 victory over the Atlanta Express and another championship in their already burgeoning trophy case.

Team Nashville posted an 81-72 victory over the Florida Rams after their only blemish of the summer thus far. Darius Thompson (Blackman) was simply outstanding leading the charge with 16 markers followed closely by Jamonte Davis (Hillsboro) with 13, tournament MVP Corn Elder (Ensworth) with 13 and Jamonte Graham (Father Ryan) with 10.

In the ensuing game, a tight one no doubt, Graham made the key steal which lifted Team Nashville to a semi-final victory over the Florida Assault.

In the title game victory, Thompson was again high scorer with 12 while Elder managed 11.

Coaches applauded the efforts of Matt Pond (Centennial) who provided steady scoring and solid play throughout the championship weekend.

Onlookers were quick to point out the contributions of several of the Team Nashville players including Josh Phillips (PJPII), Asa Duvall (Brentwood), Kip Owens (ECS) and Ivan Alsup (Nashville Overton).

Eight players from this squad have received D1 offers already this summer.

Team Nashville sits at 19-1 on the season thus far with three major tournament titles under their belts.

Anyone still doubting this bunch of ballers.......................That's what I thought.
