One of the best tourneys of the holiday season continues its romp this Saturday as the highly anticipated Super 16 gets underway at Bearden High School this Saturday.

Eight teams in both the boys and girls divisions vie for the chance to be crowned champion.

The boys action starts at 4:00 with William Blount taking on Johnson County. Micah Ballard (William Blount) leads the Governors against the boys from upper East Tennessee. Austin Phipps (Johnson County) and Jason Steele (Johnson County) lead their troops in the first game of the evening.

At 5:30, Cameron Pridemore (Grace Christian) and Ryan Slusher (Grace Christian) lead the Rams of Grace Christian against Jefferson County. Ryan Sharpe (Jefferson County) will make sure the Patriots are ready to perform in this contest.

The host team Bearden takes on Knoxville West at 7:00 with much to prove to the hoops world. This senior laden squad is ready to put all the hype behind them and hoop themselves into Bearden folklore. Demonte Simpson (Bearden), Gabriel Campbell (Bearden), Dustin Craig (Bearden), Blake Jenkins (Bearden) and Nathan "Stat-Man" Parker (Bearden) are out to prove this is the year of the Bulldog. West counters with some serious outside marksmanship from Devin Jackson (Knoxville West) and some much anticipated inside work from Phillip Stanford (Knoxville West) and Caleb Barrett (Knoxville West).

In the evenings finale the defending state AA champions Fulton Falcons tangle with the always talented neighbors down I-75 the Blue Raiders of Cleveland. Fulton's three headed guard triumvirate of Jalen Steele (Fulton), James Gallman (Fulton) and Robert Boyd (Fulton) will do battle with some pretty good guards on the other side of the floor in Ish Sanders (Cleveland) and Terrell Parks (Cleveland). Inside play could be the difference as Fulton will look to emerging transfers Reggie Garrett (Fulton) and Courtland Styles (Fulton) for heavy boardwork and tough interior stoppage.

Games will resume on Monday the 22nd with the championship rounds concluding on the 23rd. The title game will take place at 8:30 on the 23rd.

If in Knoxville come check it out. A good tourney with some solid hoopers ready to entertain you for the holidays.
