Its Rocky Top time again in Knoxville and things get rolling next week.
This is the third year of the successful event and I have selected five local high school players to participate this season.
Leading the way is two-time defending state champion guard Jalen Steele (Fulton). The talented Mr. Steele was wonderful last year averaging almost 17 per game in a league dominated by high major college players.
Staying in the Class of 2010, Tyler Hood (Lenoir City) will have the opportunity to showcase his talents in front of the packed houses at Bearden High, Hood had had a nice summer thus far picking up an offer from Samford and will use the experience to better him for his upcoming July run.
Dwight Tarwater (Knoxville Webb) will also represent for the class of 2010. His stock is rising with a solid April and this should do nothing but help his confidence.
In the Class of 2011, Lester Wilson (Carter) brings his unique brand of athleticism to the forefront. The 6-4 athlete has a much improved shot and a chance to be a big time player if he continues to grow in the proper direction.
Also joining the fray from the 2011 is Brandon Lopez (North Carolina). The former Austin East guard will take his game to the Craolinas and play for the Christ School but he will get the chance to show what he has against the big boys this June.
If your in the Knoxville area make the jump over to Bearden or check our www.rockytopbasketballleague.com for updates, rosters, standings and scoring information.
