Week #3 at the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League saw the attendance a bit down due to the ACT test but some of the best games this whole season were played this Saturday with nary a blowout among them.
Kentucky 95
Tennessee 94
The triumvirate of Tim Smith (Ezell-Harding), Terry Holt (East Nashville) and Jeremiah Oatsvall (Brentwood Academy) combined for 86 of the teams final tally as they lifted Kentucky to their first win of the season a narrow 95-94 win over Tennessee.
Smith led the charge with 30 large while Holt was nipping at his heels with 29. Oatsvall added 27 in the win.
Davis Anderton (Harpeth) got hot early and often as the rising senior marksman dropped 26 in the narrow loss. James McPherson (Brentwood) tallied 19 while Hunter Vick (Camden Central) and Jake West (Hendersonville) finished with 15 and 14 respectively.
The win moves Kentucky to 1-2 on the season staring at a date this Saturday against high powered Georgia Tech.
Tennessee looks to get into the win column against conference foe LSU.
Clemson 111
Georgia Tech 94
Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) went nuts dropping 10 three's and finishing with 40 points as Clemson knocked Georgia Tech from the ranks of unbeaten 111-94 in a thrilling game.
Devin Pitts (Antioch) added 24 points in the win and was the straw that stirred the machine tallying double digit assists and playing his heart out on the defensive end of the floor.
Rob Marberry (FRA) led Georgia Tech with 20 points. Grant Teichmann (Brentwood) added 15 while Brandon Cody (Hillsboro) tallied 13 and Dominique Washington (East Nashville) finished with 11.
Clemson moves to 3-0 on the season and puts it all on the line this Saturday against 0-3 Wake Forest.
Georgia Tech looks to get back on the winning track as they do work against Kentucky.
Vanderbilt 86
LSU 84
Caleb Hollander (Home School) converted a driving lay-up at the buzzer as Vanderbilt remained unblemished on the season at 3-0 with a narrow 86-84 win over a tough LSU bunch.
Clay Hertel (DCA) led a group of six, yes six, double digits scorers with 22 markers on the day.
Hollander followed close behind finishing with 19 while Omar Lyons (Siegel) added 15, Torry McGee (East Nashville) dropped 14, Jimmy Greer (Cane Ridge) added 12 and Micah Davis (CPA) closed it out with 11.
Chris Kennedy (Goodpasture) had a monster game for LSU finishing with a game high 23 points. Landon Fuller (Brentwood Academy) added 15 in the loss.
Vanderbilt puts their shiny unbeaten mark on the line this Saturday as they tangle with fellow 3-0 member Florida. This should be the game of the day.
LSU looks to improve their 1-2 mark as they do battle against Tennessee.
Duke 102
Wake Forest 99
Andrew Golden (Columbia Academy) was just that Saturday as the big man notched 24 markers leading Duke to their first triumph of the season with a 102-99 win over Wake Forest.
Ross Plunkett (Creek Wood) continued his torrid shooting pace notching 22 in the victory. Jalen Hunter (Goodpasture) added 18 while Jake Allsmiller (CPA) dropped 14 in the victory.
A trio of high scorers highlighted things for 0-3 Wake Forest led by Marco Steele (Hillwood) with 26. Chase Hawkins (Ravenwood) and Jack Bautista (Brentwood) each tallied 25 in the tough loss.
Duke looks to continue their winning ways as the tussle with 1-2 North Carolina on Saturday.
Wake Forest looks to rise from the ranks of the 0-3 with a tough task against 3-0 and league leading Clemson.
Florida 90
North Carolina 84
Sean Douthard (Cane Ridge) led a five spot of double digits scorers with 21 markers as Florida remained unbeaten at 3-0 with a tough 90-84 win over a surging North Carolina squad.
Joining Douthard in scoring column were Taylor Vanderbilt (Smyrna) with 16, Daniel Norl (Kenwood) with 15 and Tanner Tapp (Brentwood) and Matthew Norl (Kenwood) finishing with 10 each.
Matthew Hailey (Ravenwood) and Nick Young (Greenbrier) led North Carolina with 20 points each.
Brad Allen (Greenbrier) and Ross Cummings (Creek Wood) added 10 apiece in the tough loss.
Florida puts its gaudy 3-0 mark up for grabs as they battle fellow unbeaten Vanderbilt this Saturday in what appears to be a major showdown.
North Carolina will look to rebound as they welcome Duke into the fray this Saturday at CPA.
