Ross is Boss….Chattanooga Senior Cracks Rocky Top Scoring Mark

 

Week #2 at the Cleveland Rocky Top League saw a record breaking performance and some close action.

 

 

Syracuse 65

Marquette 59

Rondez Mee (Cleveland) scored 9 points in the fourth quarter of a close contest leading Syracuse past a determined Marquette squad 65-59. The game was a battle between Mee, who would finish with a game high 26 points and rising sophomore Jamal Worthington (Bledsoe County) who finished with 20.

 

Wesley Ritchie (Ooltewah) and Trey Suttles (Red Bank) finished with 12 and 10 points respectively in the winning effort.

 

Cameron Colverd (Bledsoe County) had 16 for Marquette.

 

 

Louisville 76

UConn 56

Balanced scoring proved to be the recipe as Louisville crept out to a 26-12 lead in the first half and finished off UConn 76-56. Levi Woods (Meigs County) led Louisville with 16 points but was closely followed in the scoring column by Darien Johnson (Bradley Central) with 14 and Gerardo Contreras (Bradley Central) with 12 points.

 

Mack Singh (Rhea County) led UConn with 11 points, rising freshman Kendrick Thompson (Cleveland) chipped in with 10.

 

 

Tennessee 87

Auburn 50

Nick Ross (Red Bank) smashed the all-time Rocky Top High School record dropping 51 points and leading his Tennessee team to an easy 87-50 victory over Auburn.

 

Ross came out on fire scoring the first 14 points of the game and ending the first half with 26. He was remarkable consistent scoring 25 in the final stanza.

 

D.J. Bowles (Notre Dame) led Auburn with 16 points. Damir Hasanbegovic (Ooltewah) added 12 in the loss.

 

Rondez Robinson (Cleveland) added 14 points for Tennessee in the win.

 

 

 

Vanderbilt 82

Florida 67

Hunter Chastain (Bradley Central) and Tevin Rutledge (Cleveland) scored 22 and 20 points respectively leading a very balanced Vanderbilt scoring effort in an 82-67 victory.

 

Vandy jumped out 17-7 and never looked back. Jervon Johnson (Ooltewah) played an outstanding game finishing with 18 markers and Stephen Record (Grace Baptist) added 10 points in the victory.

 

Logan Brewer (Polk County) and Preston Russell (Tellico Plains) each scored 11 points for Florida in the loss. Cory Smith (McMinn Central) chipped in with 10.
