Rocky Top D-League Championship Game Capsules and League Scoring Leaders

Season two is in the books and what a great year it was. Outstanding turnout and great kids. I would like to thank all the players, coaches, parents, referees and workers who helped make this season a successful one. Lets take a look at how everything went down on Championship Thursday.

ROCKY TOP D-LEAGUE CHAMPIONSJIP THURSDAY GAME CAPSULES

 

Team Evers 66

Team Gregory 58

 

Brandon Winton (Knoxville Webb) dropped 21 markers as Team Evers closed the season with a tough 66-58 win over a surging Team Gregory.

 

Caleb Tarwater (King's Academy) had his best game of the season finishing with 14 markers in the victory.

 

Jayden Housewright (CAK) led Team Gregory with 13 while Eli Walls (Powell) and Davis Ernsberger (Maryville) finished with 12.  

 

 

 

Team Garner 75

Team Cate 72

 

Colby Raimer (Kingston) made his return to action a triumphant one scoring 24 points as Team Garner slipped past Team Cate 75-72 at the finals of the Rocky Top D-League.

 

Jack Browder (Dobyns-Bennett) had a fine outing scoring 17 in the win.

 

Luke Carter (CAK) and Dalton McNew (Carter) each had 21 in the tough defeat.

 

 

 

Team Dawson 82

Team Fleming 78

 

Two of the best Class of 2023 players in the area went head to head on the scoreboard as Blue Cain (Knoxville Catholic) won the scoring battle with a game high 39 points but Lukas Walls (Knoxville Webb) got the victory to the tune of 82-78.

 

Walls would finish with 30 but had plenty of scoring assistance including 17 each from Carter Mayfield (Farragut) and Danny Stanton (Sevier County) and a 15 spot from Drew Brillhart (Knoxville Webb).

 

Yashan Warren (Knoxville Catholic) added 16 for Team Fleming while Messiah Ward (Knoxville Central) finished with 12.

 

 

 

Team Brown 65

Team Chandler 64

 

Darian Bailey (Knoxville Central) scored the game winner with no time on the clock as Team Brown concluded the season unblemished with a 65-64 win in the title game of the Rocky Top D-League.

 

Abijah Washington (Austin East) finished as high scorer for Team Brown with 17, Bailey and J.J. Faulkner (Karns) had 12 each and Ralee Henson (Karns) closed with 10.

 

Emmanuel Atkins (Grainger) finished with a game high 21 for Team Chandler. Walker Kyle (Bearden) closed with 16 and Clint Lamb (South Greene) added 11.
