Once again I have scoured the newspapers, faxes, twitters and other forms of media that come to my attention compiling a list of the top scorers in the state for each week of the season.
If you know of some scoring exploits or a scoring milestone such as 1,000 point club or something of that nature please email me at andre@tnprephoops.com and I will get this added to the next week’s story.
If you know of someone who scored over 25 points and they did not make the list please let me know and I will add them to the following weeks list.
College coaches have told me this is one of their favorite features as it helps them get an understanding on the pulse of the new season.
This will be the region scoring list for all classifications.
Davis Anderton (Harpeth) concluded a fine career at Harpeth surpassing the 1,000 point barrier for his career.
Tyler Yoder (Stone Memorial) is putting the final touches on a standout career. The Bryan College signee surpassed the 1,000 point plateau this past week and readies for the Panthers sub-state clash with Blackman on Monday.
Jacob Whaley (Sevier County) is a standout on the gridiron and on the hardwood. The senior guard etched his name in Smoky Bear folklore forever sliding past the vaunted 1,000 point mark for his career.
Keelon Lawson (Hamilton) is putting a punctuation mark on the conclusion of his junior year starting with a 31 point effort against Germantown and ending with a 28 point barrage against White Station in a winning effort for the regional championship.
Jacob Saunders (Cheatham County) has made his presence felt all season long. Why should the region be any different? The senior guard blasted MLK in the opening round with 36, notched 24 against Pearl Cohn in the semi-finals and closed despite losing to East Nashville with 27.
Brenden Teeter (Alcoa) was in beast mode during the region tournament. The junior wing/post notched 30 in a big win over Austin East then added 23 in an overtime loss to Carter in the semi-finals.
Rayford Albright (Manassas) understands the basic fundamental of putting the ball in the hoop. The senior guard was magic leading Manassas to a home game in the sub-state round with a 24 point opening regional round effort against Liberty Tech, followed by a 26 point outburst against Ripley then concluding with a 27 point barrage in the region finals against Covington.
