Pyros Burns Up Competition at King James

 

One of the exciting things about summer basketball is the chance for a lot of young people to get the opportunity to participate in events all over the country.

 

The Tennessee Pyros ventured up North to participate in the King James Shooting Stars event in Akron Ohio.

 

The Pyros represented the state of Tennessee very well finishing in the final 8 of the silver bracket.

 

Pool play began with a narrow 40-38 loss to the host squad King James Shooting Stars. Rian Hall (Oak Ridge) led the Pryos with 13 in the close loss.

 

A big 70-41 victory over the Syracuse Elite spawned a foursome of double digit scorers led by Camion Patrick (Clinton) with 14 points. Hall, Rashad Gray (Oak Ridge) and Blake Golden (Knoxville West) all chipped in with 10 points apiece. Cory Poteet (Campbell County) played extremely well from the lead guard spot.

 

Kaseem Davidson (Oak Ridge) punched in 16 markers leading the Pyros to their second victory a 9 point squashing of Maryland's Finest. Jordan Hall (Lenoir City) busted the twine for 14 points and Rian Hall added 12 points and 7 assists.

 

Advancing into bracket play the Pyros continued their winning ways dispatching of All or Nothing 65-60 behind 16 large from Davidson. Golden chipped in with 16 points and 10 caroms, while Jordan Hall added 12.

 

In the quarterfinal the Pyros lost a close contest 55-54 to the ECE Panthers. Jordan Hall led the way with 17 points. He was joined in the scoring column by Golden who chipped in a double/double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

 

The Pyros will be on display this weekend at Seymour in the East Sub-State 15 and under division. Games begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday.
