Pre-Christmas and Post-Christmas Tournament Results

The pre and post holiday season was chock full of tournaments from Bristol to Beech and beyond.

 

Here is a rundown of who won some of these events.

 

Smokey Mountain Classic @ Gatlinburg-Pittman

Gatlinburg-Pittman 50

Beech 34

Before Christmas event saw Jose Agosto (Gatlinburg-Pittman) score 24 points and Jon McCroskey (Gatlinburg-Pittman) added 12 points and seven assists as the Highlanders defeated Beech 50-34. Ryne Chamberlain (Beech) led Beech with 13 points.

 

Best of Preps @ Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences (CSAS)

Red Bank 75

Tyner Academy 66

Kelvin Clay (Red Bank) scored 28 points and captured tourney MVP honors leading the Lions past Tyner Academy 75-66. Nick Ross (Red Bank) added 21 points in the win. Travis Jones (Tyner Academy) scored 16 points for the Rams.

 

 

Henry Bowles Tourney @ Howard

Maplewood 54

Howard 53

Jaleel Querry (Maplewood) led a furious Maplewood comeback scoring the game winner at the buzzer and garnering MVP honors as Maplewood slid past Howard 54-53. Querry finished with 12 points.

 

 

Ensworth Holiday Shootout

Ensworth 84

Livingston Academy 53

Cornelius Elder (Ensworth) scored 24 points leading Ensworth to the championship of their own pre-Christmas event over Livingston Academy 84-53. Conor McDermott (Ensworth) added 16 points and Alex Thomas (Ensworth) finished with 14 in the championship game victory. Mason Ramsey (Livingston Academy) scored 10 in the loss.

 

Mid-South Classic @ Cookeville

Cookeville 58

White County 39

Cookeville placed three players in double digits and captured the Mid-South Classic pre-Christmas tournament with a 58-39 win over White County. Pat Mills (Cookeville) led with 14 points. Phillip Roper (Cookeville) and Trey Henderson (Cookeville) scored 13 and 11 points respectively. Devon Davidson (White County) scored 12 points to lead White County.

 

Beech Holiday Tournament

CPA 57

Beech 43

Craig "The Professor" Bradshaw (CPA) scored 23 points and freshman phenom Jalen Lindsey (CPA) added 17 points as CPA captured the Beech Holiday Tournament with a 57-43 win over the host team. Bradshaw and Lindsey were named co-MVP's of the tourney.

 

Father Ryan Invitational

Father Ryan 54

Hillsboro 38

The host team got 12 points from Pat Pickney (Father Ryan) and took home the gold defeating Hillsboro 54-38. Freed-Hardeman signee Isiah Harrison (Hillsboro) scored 10 for the Burros.

 

Smyrna Christmas Classic

Sycamore 64

Wilson Central 55

Brett Waller (Sycamore) scored 15 points leading Sycamore to the championship of the Smyrna Christmas Classic over Wilson Central. Dee Oldham (Wilson Central) scored 11 points in the championship game loss.

 

Bay Barnstorm Classic @ Panama City

CBHS 66

Pleasure Ridge Park 64

Brian Douglas (CBHS) scored 17 points and Chris Deanes (CBHS) added 13 markers helping lead CBHS to the title game championship in Florida.

 

Midway Holiday Classic

Gibbs 78

Dresden 70

Jay Cade (Gibbs) dropped 21 points leading the Eagles to the championship of the Midway Holiday Classic with a 78-70 win over Dresden. Hunter Hopson (Gibbs) added 15 points in the win. Tyler McPeak (Dresden) led all scorers in the game with 23 points.

 

Mid-State Christmas Tournament

DCA 72

Ezell-Harding 70

Kyle Kennedy (DCA) scored 19 points and helped DCA slip past Ezell-Harding to capture the Mid-State Christmas Tourney. Hayden Ray (Ezell-Harding) scored 14 points for the runner-up.

 

Pilot Classic @ Knoxville Catholic

In this round robin Christmas Classic, Knoxville Karns finished 3-0 with wins over Unicoi County, Knoxville Catholic and Cleveland. Shaquille Cantrell (Karns), Morgan Everette (Karns) and Devin Sibley (Karns) played well for the Beavers.

 

Overton Christmas Tournament

Overton 76

Westwood 68

The Bobcats got 25 points from Mookie Betts (Overton) in route to a 76-68 besting of Westwood. Brandon McPhail (Overton) chipped in with 19 points; Justin Perry (Overton) added 17 points and Frank Labasco (Overton) finished with 13 in the victory. Zach Smith (Westwood) and David Pledge (Westwood) scored 16 and 15 respectively for Westwood in the loss.

 

Watertown Christmas Tournament

DeKalb County 71

Warren County 63

Sonni Young (DeKalb County) scored 19 points leading DeKalb County past Warren County for the championship of the Watertown Christmas Tourney. Michael Thrower (Warren County) led all scorers with 27 points in the loss.

 

Maryville Nike Holiday Tournament

Oak Ridge 70

Maryville 53

Cory Fagan (Oak Ridge) dropped 19 points but Lonnie McClanahan (Oak Ridge) was huge all week gathering the MVP honors as the Wildcats downed the home team Maryville 70-53. Scott Shoffner (Oak Ridge) scored 15 points for Oak Ridge and McClanahan added 10 markers.

 

White County Sonic Shootout

T.J. Chesterfield (Riverdale) scored 13 points and helped lead the Warriors to the championship of the White County Sonic Shootout over the host squad 45-42. Robbie Johnson (White County) scored 13 points in the tough loss.

 

Lenoir City Holiday Classic

Sequoyah 60

Farragut 54

Jethro Griffin (Sequoyah) scored 24 points leading the Chiefs to the championship of the Lenoir City Holiday Classic over Farragut. Sequoyah advanced to the title game with wins over Anderson County and Kingston. Tevin West (Sequoyah) was huge against the Mavericks scoring 30 points.

 

Super 16 @ Bearden

Knoxville West 61

It took overtime this time around but the Bulldogs avenged an early season loss to the Rebels with a 64-61 victory in the title game of the Super 16 Tournament. Dion Fair (Bearden) played an outstanding tournament gathering MVP honors with a sterling 16 point performance. Rico White (Bearden) scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs. Ty Greene (Bearden) chipped in with 14 points and Drew Standifer (Bearden) added 11 in the overtime victory. Carson Brooks (Knoxville West) scored 17 points in the tough loss.

 

Hickman County Holiday Classic

Chase Owen (MBA) and Whit Thornton (MBA) scored 15 and 11 points respectively leading MBA past Clarksville Northeast for the championship of the Hickman County Holiday Classic 59-54. Alex Poythress (Northeast) led all scorers with 16 points in the loss
