Plunkett Lights it Up as Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League gets Underway

Basketball in September, say it isn't so.....

My friends it is so and the Tennessee Prep Hoops Nashville Fall League kicked off in full regatta this past Saturday at CPA with five games. Lets see how the action unfolded.

 

 

 

Vanderbilt 102

Tennessee 83

Caleb Hollander (Home School) finished 9 of 11 from the field including 4 of 4 from deep concluding with 24 points as Vanderbilt rolled over Tennessee 102-83 in Nashville Fall League action.

Hollander led a stable of teammates with double digits including DeMarco Steele (Hillwood), who proved to the catalyst for Vanderbilt all day with his defensive effort and leadership on the offensive side of the ball. Steele finished with 15 markers.

Evan Heskje (Home School) added 13 and the brothers Murphy, Grayson Murphy (Independence) and patrick Murphy (Independence), tallied 12 and 10 respectively.

The Vanderbilt scoring barrage negated a couple of fine offensive performances for Tennessee. Davonte Williams (Gallatin) got very hot late and finished with a game high 29 points while Tucker Campbell (Adamsville) proved a steady force finishing with 20 markers on the day.

Jordan Jeffries (Blackman) added 11 markers in the loss.

Tennessee (0-1) will look to rebound this Saturday at CPA as they got out of conference and meet Clemson (0-1) in the 1:00 tilt.

Vanderbilt puts its 1-0 mark on the line against fellow Eastern Division winner Florida in the 11:00 match-up at CPA this Saturday.

 

 

Duke 87

Clemson 64

Chico Plunkett (Creek Wood) netted a league high 31 points as Duke pulled away in the second half with an 87-64 win over Clemson.

Assisting Plunkett in the scoring charge were Dawson Hamilton (Wilson Central) who finished with 20 and John Carter (Summit) who added 14.

Duke puts their unblemished mark on the line this Saturday as they meet fellow Western Division foe Georgia Tech (0-1) in a shootout at noon.

Ricky Dunnaway (Oakland) and Jarrell Reeves (Oakland) led Clemson with 26 and 22 points respectively.

Clemson looks to bounce back into the victory column as they welcome cross division foe Tennessee (0-1) for a 1:00 battle at CPA this Saturday.

 

 

Kentucky 75

Florida 71

Chase Hawkins (Lighthouse Christian) led all scorers with 18 as Kentucky slipped past a determined Florida squad 75-71 in one of the best games of the day at the Nashville Fall League.

Middle Tennessee say hello to Class of 2019 lead guard Tyger Campbell (CPA) who came on very strong in the decisive second half and finished with 16 points. Evan Ragsdale (CPA) got his shooting stroke on late as well netting 11 markers for Kentucky.

Florida played hard till the final minute led by Chase Nappier (Lighthouse Christian) with 15 points and Elijah McCoin (Northeast) added 12 in the tough loss.

Kentucky brings that swagger back this Saturday at CPA where they welcome fellow East Division unbeaten Vanderbilt (1-0).

Florida looks to reverse their fortunes as they battle Eastern Division member LSU, fresh off their own tough last minute defeat.

 

 

North Carolina 94

Georgia Tech 63

Torey McGhee (East Nashville) led a five-pack of double digit warriors with 20 as North Carolina came out of the gate on fire blasting to a 94-63 win over Georgia Tech.

Kenny Cooper (FRA) finished with 15, Steve Anderson (Lead Academy) added 12, Coulter Dotson (Creek Wood) chipped in with 11 and Donovan Henry (MLK) ended with 10 for North Carolina.

Roderick Waters (White's Creek) led all scorers with 27 for Georgia Tech in the losing effort. DeMarco Simpson (White's Creek) tallied 11 and Brandon Dansoh (Cane Ridge) chipped in with 10.

Things do not get any easier for Georgia Tech this weekend as they battle an unbeaten Duke squad.

North Carolina wishes to keep the motor purring against fellow West Division unbeaten Wake Forest at CPA this Saturday.

 

 

Wake Forest 76

LSU 71

DeQuan Summers (Hillwood) finished with 20 as Wake Forest held on late to slide past a very good LSU squad 76-71.

Grant Teichmann (Brentwood) took game scoring honors for LSU finishing with 25 in the narrow defeat.

Wake Forest used balanced scoring to drive their victory led by Summers ye upheld by Donovan Donaldson (Hillsboro) with 13, Jaden Lewis (Summit) with 12 and Gabe Cummings (Creek Wood) with 11.

With the victory Wake Forest readies for their next challenge as powerful North Carolina awaits in what is sure to be the game of the day this Saturday at CPA.

LSU looks to rebound against fellow close loss victim Florida.
