Jacob Munsey (Union County) dropped 23 including six foul shots down the stretch to lift the Patriots of Union County past Unicoi County 61-56 in the region championship game in 1AA.
The Patriots held the lead for much of the third quarter before a scoring barrage by Unicoi County senior guard Cameron Miller, who would finish with 30, gave them the lead early in the fourth stanza.
Union County then turned to the Tyler's. Tyler "T-Smooth" Vittetoe knocked down a few bombs and Tyler 'T-Solid" Smith scored on some drives to the bucket. Munsey closed things out at the foul line.
Unicoi fought hard behind Miller and sophomore gunner Logan Lyle, who finished with 16.
Vittetoe finished with 15 and Smith added 14 for the Pats who will host Knoxville Carter on Monday while Unicoi travels to Fulton to meet the defending AA state champs.
