Here is our weekly list of the top scoring performances in the state, separated by East, Middle and West Tennessee distinction. One of our favorite features as relayed to me by numerous college coaches of all levels.
This is also the forum to announce milestones including 1,000 point scoring efforts and such. Please let me know if we miss any of that information. You can email me at andre@tnprephoops.com.
My intent is to post this list every Monday or Tuesday throughout the season.
Thank you to everyone who send me wishes after my car accident on Tuesday. I am very sore.
Currently standing unbeaten the Bulldogs of Bearden are off to a rousing start behind the scoring exploits of junior post Jason Smith (Bearden). Smith had an ultra productive week dropping 26 in a win over William Blount and closing strong on Friday night with a 40 point effort in win over Hardin Valley.
Connor Hall (Jackson County) scored a hefty 30 points in a win over Monterey and in doing so passed the 1,000 point barrier for his career with the Blue Devils.
Demonte Person (Kingsbury) is someone whom everyone should get to know. Diminutive lead guard had a big moment this past week dropping 20 points including the game winner against Jackson Northside.
A shining light, a hidden gem call it what you will but over at York Institute junior Colton Blevins (York Institute) is having his way with the competition. The 6'7 combo wing/post dropped 27 points and snatched 23 boards in a win over Upperman.
Nathan Hoover (Arlington) represented the Memphis area very well in the annual Atlanta/Memphis shootout. The junior guard netted 34 points against North Clayton and followed with 32 against Whitefield Academy. Great showing for the 6'3 shooting star.
Secretly putting together a nice squad for a deep playoff run the Red Hawks of Creek Wood are piling up numbers at a frantic pace. In a tight game against Waverly Central, Isaac Edmondson (Creek Wood) netted 31, Ross Cummings (Creek Wood) drained 27 and Chico Plunkett (Creek Wood) finished with 26. Class AA don't look now but here comes Creek Wood.
Patrick Good (David Crockett) has his team standing at 12-0 after his scoring exploits over the past week. The junior guard dropped 41 points in a win over Dobyns-Bennett and added 26 against Tennessee High.
Dedric Lawson (Hamilton) dropped 27 points as the Wildcats of Hamilton stayed unbeaten trouncing White Station and sending a message to the ranks of Class AAA that they are the team to beat this year.
