Northeast, Memphis Central and Bradley Central Capture Victories in Game of the Week Action (2)

Week #2 saw some outstanding games featured for our three selections as Games of the Week.

 

 

Northeast 61

Kenwood 49

In Middle Tennessee, Alex Poythress (Northeast) notched 30 points while teammate Darius Brown (Northeast) added 25 as the Eagles of Northeast kept their stranglehold on the district lead with a 61-49 win over surging Kenwood.

 

The win moves Northeast to 22-2 on the season.

 

Kenwood put four players in double digits including DeAndre Lisenbee (Kenwood) and Guy Stanford (Kenwood) led with 13 markers apiece while Maleek Hall (Kenwood) and Daniel Norl (Kenwood) each added 10.

 

 

 

Memphis Central 65

Memphis East 63

A tight contest opened up as Memphis Central used a 17-12 fourth quarter flourish to slip past Memphis East and grab the #2 spot in the district standings at this point of the season.

 

Josh Jones (Memphis Central) led the scoring with 16 points and was accompanied in the scorebook by seniors D'arrius Sorrell (Memphis Central) and Myron Johnson (Memphis Central) who finished with 13 and 12 respectively.

 

The Central victory offset a fine performance from East junior Nick King (Memphis East) who led all scorers with 24 points in the close loss.

 

Earvin Morris (Memphis East) added 16 points and Matthew Butler (Memphis East) chipped in with 13.

 

 

Bradley Central 58

Cleveland 51

Hunter Chastain (Bradley Central) led a trio of double figure efforts as the Bears of Bradley Central moved into a first place district tie with Ooltewah after slipping by traditional rival Cleveland 58-51.

 

Chastain was joined in the scoring column by Bryce Copeland (Bradley Central) who finished with 15 points and Justin Houston (Bradley Central) who managed 14 in the victory.

 

The coaching staff was quick to applaud the defensive efforts of senior Darien Johnson (Bradley Central).

D.J. Bowles (Cleveland) led all scorers with 21 points in the tough loss. Jared Rhodes (Cleveland) added 15 points.
