Nike Memorial Day Preview

A change of venue will not stop the talent rush of this Nike exclusive.

The Nike Memorial Day Tournament moves from Nashville to Atlanta this weekend and features a bunch of Travelers and one YOMCA.

In the 17 and under division the Memphis YOMCA and the Tennessee Travelers are the lone representatives from the Volunteer state.

Andre Hollins (White Station) leads the YOMCA into battle despite being made up of players exclusively from the Class of 2011.

Hollins is joined by Marvin Williams (White Station) and emerging big man talent Nino Johnson (Melrose).

Jalen Steele (Fulton) and Tyler Hood (Lenoir City) provide the scoring and the consistency for the Travelers, who must have someone step up and be that third scorer to complement the big two.

Could it be Dwight Tarwater (Knoxville Webb), Brandon Lopez (North Carolina) or Brandon Herman (Grace Baptist)?

As the lone representative in the 16 and under division we are counting on the young Travs to bring us some hardware. Lester Wilson (Knoxville Carter) will be the go to guy on the wing and inside while improving big man Tres Palmer (Knoxville Powell) can score from the perimeter or inside as well.

Rico White (Bearden) is emerging as a bonafide star in the making with his quickness and sic lefty stroke combined with his emergence from the point. This advancement would allow Galen Campbell (Bearden) to roam free for jumpers and tough drives off the bounce.

Fresh off their championship crowning at the 15 and under state, the Travelers venture into a much more intense atmosphere. Craig "The Professor" Bradshaw (Greenbrier) remains the heart and soul of the squad while many of his comrades are following his lead.

Jaylen Allen (Science Hill), Braylen "Vitamin B" Bennett (Knoxville Carter), and Matt Shown (Alcoa) have stepped up big and another effort like his championship march from Tanner Torres (Anderson County) gives the Travs depth at the all important guard spots and another scorer on the perimeter.

Stay tuned for periodic updates from Atlanta.
