Nichols Goes Off in Super 80 Opening Weekend Action

The Super 80 Fall League tipped off in grand fashion this past Saturday with some outstanding efforts headlining the landscape.

Celtics 63

Bulls 52

Ryan Townes (Arlington) banged home 19 points as the Celtics surprised the Bulls 63-52 in the day's first contest at the Super 80. Townes was joined in the scoring column by Jonathan Burroughs (Ridgeway) with 13 points.

Andre Applewhite (Memphis Central) led the Bulls with 15 while Dre'Sean Looney (Southwind) added 13 in the loss.

Hawks 96

Knicks 66

Austin Nichols (Briarcrest Christian) scored a game high 30 points and the loaded Hawks blasted the Knicks 96-66. Jarnell Stokes (Southwind) welcomed himself back to Memphis with 20 points, while Larry Spicer Jr. (White Station) and Demarc Richardson (Braircrest Christian) added 18 and 14 respectively in the big win.

Magic 73

Heat 70

Tim Shaw (Memphis Central) and Matthew Butler (Memphis East) dropped 22 points each leading the Magic to a tough 73-70 win over a tough Heat squad.

Josh Jones (Memphis Central) led the Heat with 16 and Alex Anderson (Wooddale) chipped in with 14 markers in the close loss.

Grizzlies 58

Thunder 41

Kadario Fleming (Ridgeway) scored a game high 19 points as the Grizzlies galloped past the Thunder 58-41. D.J. Wooten (Lausanne) chipped in with 16 markers in the victory.

Markel Crawford (Melrose) led the Thunder with 14 in the loss.

Suns 63

Lakers 58

Chris Jones (Braircrest Christian) scored 21 points and Marvin Smith (Ridgeway) added 19 as the Suns outshone the Lakers 63-58.

Anthlon Bell (Bartlett) led all scorers with 23 in the loss. he was assisted in the scoring column by Cameron Golden (Ridgeway) with 17.

Spurs 62

Pacers 60

Keelon Lawson (Memphis East) scored 14 points as the Spurs clipped the Pacers 62-60 in the final game of the day at the Super 80.
