"Like butter, cause they are on a roll", nice quote and funny also, but appropriate for the run of the Nashville Celtics at the Peach State Showcase in Aiken.
The Celtics parlayed some very nice wins over some of the areas toughest squads including wins over the Southern Kings, Alabama Challenge and Charlotte Royals in a championship appearance against E1T1.
With only seven players on the roster, fatigue eventually reared its ugly head and the Celtics fell by 5 to the Each One Teach One crew.
Daijon Williams (Clarksville) played so very well the last couple of days, hitting his outside shot with consistency and making much better decisions with the basketball on the drive.
With Demarc Richardson (Briarcrest Christian) a little banged up after a hard fall on Thursday, Williams showed some poise and leadership on the court. Richardson showed toughness and determination as well playing with his injury.
Taylor Barnette (Kentucky) kept the defense honest with his shooting stroke and his homeboy Jaylen Beckham (Kentucky) brought some toughness and grit to a team that needed the infusion and got it.
David Howard (MBA) continues to show his improvement around the basket and Jamal Smith (FACS) is about as raw an athlete as we have seen, he seems to improve by the possession. Once Smith figures things out he could be a manchild.
Reggie Upshaw (Baylor) playing up for this event, gave the Celtics solid play on both ends of the court and was especially solid on the glass.
The momentum will be welcomed as the Celtics will relish the few days off before heading to Las Vegas for the adidas 64.
