Something in the air my friends
We know the squeeking of the sneakers, the smell of the hardwood, yes hoops is back in a major way this July.
The Nashville Celtics hit the trail running this summer after some solid success thus far already. Good showings at Real Deal and Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions only enhances their resume for the most important month of the hot weather calendar.
Casey Prather (Jackson Northside) is the headliner for this talented Celtics squad. After a superb showing at the NBPA Players Camp this past week, the talented rising senior is putting himself into the Top 25 conversation among national polls. Austin Hollins (Germantown) now has the chance to show all of us who watched him in April and May that his game has entered the high major stratusphere. Coaches will be impressed with his length and ability to score, defend and board...can't wait.
The Celtics will remain, as most summer teams, guard and wing heavy but look for big performances from some of their inside players like Cody Henegar (Marion County), Levon Tate (Seigel) and Arthur McMillan (Hillsboro). Henegar played well early and will use this opportunity to improve his stock.
Ish Sanders (Cleveland) has been very good thus far in April and May. His outside shot is sterling and he has maximized his scoring chances. The Celtics will need the play of a host of talented guards as they play the hectic schedules of those July days. Jay Murphy (Bolivar Central), Mitchell Hill (Cookeville), Jeremy Purvis (Clarksville Northeast) and Kedren Johnson (Marshall County).
Johnson comes off a very good April but fell victim to injuries which thwarted his May. The thrilling underclassmen is more than ready for a July run that puts him into the hearts and minds of coaches from coast to coast.
July Schedule:
adidas Take 5-Cincinnati (July 6-8)
River City Showdown-Memphis (July 13-15)
adidas Super 64-Las Vegas (July 21-26)
