This is why this is the best time of the year.
It was a bad time to be ranked #1 in your classification in Memphis on Thursday night.
Mitchell 87
BTW 83
Memphis Mitchell behind 17 markers from Armoni Burditt dropped previously unbeaten BTW 87-83 to capture the MIAA Class AA city championship.
Mitchell, who avenged last years defeat at the hands of the Warriors, got 16 from sophomore Mardracus Wade and 14 from Lewis McCaster.
Tim Ware led BTW with 24.
ETSU signee Jarvis Jones tweaked his knee late in the game, we certainly hope it is not serious and wish him the best.
Memphis Central 50
Ridgeway 46
In the AAA game Memphis Central ,behind 17 points from Chris Carr, beat top ranked Ridgeway 50-46 to capture their first ever MIAA Class AAA city championship.
Central has quietly been one of the best teams in West Tennessee and needed this signature win to let everyone know they are for real.
Tim Peete added 15 for Central.
Sampson Carter led the Roadrunners with 13.
The losses will certainly shake up the "Lucky 13"; as well as, the state rankings.
