The games were fast and furious just as we thought they would be at the Memphis Select Classic 4.

"Mighty" Chris Jones (Melrose) gathered a group on polo clad onlookers sinking 34 points while leading the Memphis Stallions to a 81-72 win over the Northwest Wildcats.

Jones was joined in the scoring column by Nick Mason (Southwind) with 15 and Brandon Wright (Hillcrest) with 12.

Chris Crawford (Sheffield) scored 23 points as the Memphis Magic Elite ousted the JSA Disciples 96-68. Joe "The Real Thing" Jackson (White Station) got 20 despite arriving at the gym late after just getting back to town from the Reebok All-American Camp, where of course he shined very bright.

Marquis Wilson (Wooddale) finished with 13 for the Magic, while Adonis Thomas (Melrose) and Anderson Cunningham (Cordova) each added 10.

Team Nashville gets off to a rousing start of their own at 2-0 with big wins over the Memphis Cobras (68-45) and Team Ramey (79-77). Robert Wade (Maplewood) continues his rapid summer of development dropping 19 in the first contest and 22 in the second. Teraes Clemmons (Mt. Juliet) was equally as impressive with 18 early and 20 in the nightcap.

Steady play has defined Team Nashville all season and so far there is more of the same. Fred Lee (Maplewood) and Hollis Edwards (McGavock) have provided leadership and steady defensive effort. Isiah Harrison (Hillsboro) is logging double duty on the 17's and 16's and has been effective. The rising junior scored 14 in the early game victory. Adrian Williamson (Prep) has been steady as well for Nashville scoring 22 in the opener and providing effort and determination on the boards.

Over in the 16's the host squad Memphis Select completed an easy 83-63 victory behind 22 large from Dierre McElroy (Raleigh-Egypt)and 18 from rising sophomore Andre Applewhite (Memphis Central). Octavious Ellis (Whitehaven) finished with 12. Rising star Cedric McAfee (Craigmont) managed 7 before suffering an injury in the second half. He hopes to be back tomorrow.

Justin Perry (Overton) scored 24 points to lead Team Nashville 16 and under squad to a big 20 point scalping. Jacob Lloyd (Westview) added 22 in the win and Andre Brown (Clarksville Northwest) finished with 17.
