Mid-State Ballerz Bangin’ in Birmingham

With all the action over the Memorial Day holiday it was impossible for us to retrieve everything so we saved some for later...and later is now.

 

The scene Birmingham, the event the Future 150 Memorial Day Classic, the team the Mid-State Ballerz, the results, very good.

 

The Mid-State 16's could have put their respective heads down after two close losses in pool play but they did not and despite playing shorthanded with only six players they rallied and rallied finally winning the Silver Bracket of the event with a four overtime instant classic against the Birmingham Ice.

 

Dee Oldham (Wilson Central) led the Ballerz in scoring, averaging around 15 per game for the tourney. He was followed closely by Caleb Chowbay (Mt. Juliet) and Daniel Cartwright (Sequatchie County) who clocked in at 14 per game. Chase Winslow (USJ) added 12 points per game for the young Ballerz.

 

Antonio Miranda (Morristown East) and Raj Bal (Centennial) showed out big on the glass and inside for the Ballerz.

 

Down in 17 and under land, the Ballerz defeated the Tulsa Ballerz and the Alabama Thunder in pool play before falling to the powerful MBA Elite and grabbing the second spot. Advancing to the Gold bracket the Ballerz, snatch two victories including a big come from behind, down by 20, victory before falling to the Georgia Impact.

 

Jacob Lloyd (Westview) shot lights out all weekend while Jeff Graham (Hamilton) finished the weekend averaging around 12 points per game. E.J. Miller (USJ) was lauded for his shooting and ability to control the tempo for the Ballerz.

 

A trio of new additions helped push the Ballerz into the later stages of the event including Ricardo Martin (South Carolina), Earnest Graham (Mississippi) and Daquarius Mallard (Mississippi).
